AMAZON DOES IT AGAIN

In another bold move to help the Indie writers, Amazon, the book selling giant, has made pre-ordering an available option its authors.

Basically, what this means is it’s a promotional opportunity for Indie authors to advertise the launch of their novels and boost first day sales.

For me it meant untold excitement to see the fruition of my dreams right up there in the listings with all my favourite writers. I’m dancing around my living room in glee as I write this, 🙂

In CELEBRATION of this momentous occasion I think we should have a contest.

Anyone who comments on this link and joins my mailing list between now and Sept. 15/2014, the launch date for my book, Tidal Falls, will be entered to win a prize pack,

1st prize- a Kindle Paperwhite, and a free e-copy of my book, Tidal Falls

2nd prize- a gift certificate of twenty-five dollars from your choice of Starbucks, or Tim Horton’s,an autographed bookmark, and a free e-copy of my book, Tidal Falls

3rd prize- a gift certificate of ten dollars from Amazon, and a free e-copy of my book, Tidal Falls

Can you tell I’m excited? 🙂

Tell me what you think about Amazon, love ’em, or hate ’em?

  5. I’m doing a release Nov. 26 and I was so psyched to see the pre-release option… I am dancing around, too. 🙂 As for Amazon, I like them a lot, but I wish they had less power in the marketplace.

    1. Congrats, very exciting isn’t it, 🙂 I’d agree with you except for the fact that their power comes from pleasing their readers, which is what we want, after all. If some of the others would come up with more user friendly buying and reading options I think they’d do better in the marketplace.
Thanks for your thoughts, and I’ll add your name to the kitty, good luck, 🙂

  6. Congratulations, Jacquie! This is really exciting and I wish you the very best of luck. Re: Amazon. I absolutely love bookstores but after living for a number of years in the wilderness with no bookstore in sight, I came to reality appreciate what Amazon offers, especially how they make it so easy for writers and readers.

    1. Hi Irene, thanks for stopping by. I agree, for years my favorite thing was to go to the city and spend a couple of hours at chapters. Then I heard about Amazon, and it was love at first sight, lol. All those books available at the press of a button, made this voracious reader a very happy girl, 🙂 Now with e-books on the market, it’s easier than ever before for readers to get the books they love, and authors to showcase their work. I love it!
I’ll add your name to the pot, good luck, 🙂

  7. How exciting, Jacquie – your first published book!! Yeah! I can imagine all the dancing around in your home. Amazon has many positives along with some negatives, but this new pre-release option is fantastic for a readaholic like me! Best of luck in your new life as an AUTHOR! (too many exclamation marks, but oh well…) 🙂

    1. Hi Celia,
Yeah, I’ve been trying to settle myself down and get to work on the next book but too excited. I’m bopping around from blog, to advertising, to social media, to the three on-line classes I’m currently taking. Crazy, lol. I love the pre-order function Amazon has. I like going through searching out the publication dates on my fav authors and then pre-ordering their books. Always a nice surprise on release day to open my Kindle and there they are, 🙂
I’ll add your name to the lucky hat. I hope one day to attend a Van meeting so I can say Hi in person, 🙂

  8. It really is a great thing for the success of your book.
It seems as if I’m more excited about the launch than you 😉
Lol just kidding, can’t wait to read the book. AS for Amazon, I’ve mostly had positive experiences with them while ordering anything or whether customer care..

My friend is an author who says that Amazon are one of the best and most wonderful people to work with.

Anyway All The Best for the launch! Really excited!

Oh and count me in for that giveaway too, would love to have a kindle to read books!

  9. Woo! This is so exciting.

Amazon is hit or miss for me. They’ve worked out great for me, but I dealt with them for my mom and it took months of back and forth and nothing was ever done.

    1. Hi Dani,
Thank you, today is release day!! Woot, woot, 🙂
Sorry to hear that about Amazon. The only trouble I’ve ever had was dealing through their buyers site, where you can purchase merchandise from people? Sort of like E-bay. I ordered a birthday gift for my brother and he never did receive it.
I wrote them and they said they’d send another, but same deal.
So far as books though, Amazon is great, never had a problem dealing with them directly.
Thanks for stopping by, contest ends at midnight tonight, good luck 🙂
