After a rough week where we had to say goodbye to our sweet baby dog, Annie, Mother Nature gifted us with a rare snow event here on Vancouver Island.
It’s a good thing we’re enjoying the RV life because a snow squall hit overnight with 90 km winds that knocked out power to 28000 on the south island alone.
Luckily, we have propane heat and a generator to keep the power going, so we’re better off than most. It’s been hard on the birds and plants. I worry about the poor hummingbirds- we had -16 with the wind chill last night.
This giant cedar fell across the road to Fisgard Lighthouse and Esquimalt Lagoon.
We took Annie to the beach a couple of times, but she hated the water. Not even for DH, would she go near it, lol.
We’re going to miss her for a very long while ❤
I’m so sorry for your loss of Annie. I just lost Bailey before Christmas and know it will take time for you to allow the fun memories of Annie to take the place of the pain. There won’t be a day where something will remind you of Annie. The tears will hopefully give way to smiles.

Thank you, John. I cursed her hair all over the house, but now I’d be happy to have it back. ((Hugs to you and Bailey))

I know what you mean. Bailey’s hair was mostly black and it was everywhere. I would too.

Everyone who has ever had a dog understands what you’re going through. Hugs.
Yikes, that fallen tree! But the snow is beautiful.

Thank you, Priscilla. I believe dogs are angels sent to live and protect us when we need them ❤️
Yes, the tree was a surprise when we rounded a corner in the road, lol

A tough week for sure Jacquie. Our dear animal friends leave a big gap. I hope your hummingbirds have survived this cold spell.

They really do, Brigid. Annie slept on the floor beside my bed every night (even when she could barely make it up the stairs) and if I had to get up, she would stay perfectly still and just give these little grunts to let me know where she was.
I hate being able to just set my feet down without worry now 😦
The news is forecasting this weather could last until the end of February. While I know we have it much easier than a lot of people, I fear there will be a big loss in the hummingbird population.

I hope the weather improves Jacquie. I hate to think of birds and animals suffering.

I am so sorry to read about your dog, Jacquie. The snow looks amazing. We don’t get snow here.

Thank you, Robbie, she was a good friend.
The snow is different here than it was in Alberta, where I grew up. There, it was common to be 20 below, so the snow was dry and not as dangerous once you were used to it.
Here, the temperature is hovering near 0, making for treacherous conditions. I’ll be glad when it’s gone, lol

Thank you, Darlene. No, this is only the second time in the six years I’ve been here. Do you get snow?

It snowed one morning two years ago and it was the first time in over 50 years. They said it was my fault because I came from Canada. There were people who had never seen snow, they were so excited. It was 20C today.

Lol, it’s usually Canada’s fault 😊
20? I’m jealous!

The snow is beautiful, Jacquie! The RV life sounds so fun. I would love that. I’m sorry for your loss of Annie. She was a beautiful girl, and I see love in her beautiful eyes. I lost one of my cats on Christmas Day and one back in May. It’s heartbreaking, but one day, hopefully soon, those memories will be sweet ones. ♥️

The snow is pretty, especially since it’s an oddity, lol.
