My Review

A high-tech page-turning mystery from the queen of suspense!

When a well-liked man with a successful career enters a business meeting wearing a suicide vest and blows everyone in the room to kingdom come, Lieutenant Eve Dallas begins an investigation into a web of intrigue like no other.

When it’s confirmed the suspect was in fact a victim- his family was beaten and threatened with death unless he went through with the detonation- Dallas seeks Roarke’s help to determine why. Just as the list of possible suspects grows, another explosion and the theft of some paintings takes the case in a completely different direction.

Time is running out before the thieves strike again- will Roarke and Dallas figure out what is going on before more people die?

Leverage in Death is an explosive hit! There are so many twists and turns to this one and yet the author does a superb job of tying all the loose ends.

There’s a fight scene toward the end that had me literally gasping!

Best Lines:

What would you do to save two people you love more than yourself, more than anything?”

Roarke laid a hand over hers. “Absolutely anything.”

“You do know it’s leopards that don’t change their spots, not polka dots?”

“A leopard’s born, lives, and dies a leopard, so that’s that.”

“That’s rather the point of the adage.”

“Why need an adage on something that’s just that? It’s a waste of words. If people didn’t have stupid sayings about the obvious, they wouldn’t waste so many words and talk so damn much.”

“I never like convenient. It brushes close to coincidence.”

She lay under him, weak, dizzy, empty of anger. And somehow tendrils of sorrow trailed in to fill the void. “It’s not you I don’t trust. It’s never you.”

“It’s never me you want to distrust,” he countered. “But there are still times, just now and then, when those cop’s eyes are on me and say different.”

      1. It doesn’t matter. You’ll meet the same inner circle of friends, and their might be some mentioning about situations and events that you haven’t read about but their private life is such a minor part of this series. It’s really all about the cases.
