Biography

Jan Sikes is an award-winning Texas author who has been called a wordsmith by her peers. She openly admits that she never set out in life to be an author. But she had a story to tell. Not just any story, but a true story that rivals any fiction creation. You simply can’t make this stuff up. It all happened. She chose to create fictitious characters to tell the story through, and they bring the intricately woven tale to life in an entertaining way. She released a series of music CDs to accompany the four biographical fiction books and then published a book of poetry and art to complete the story circle.

And now that the story is told, this author can’t find a way to put down the pen. She continues to write fiction and has published many short stories with a series of novels waiting in the wings. She is a member of the Authors Marketing Guild, The Writer’s League of Texas, Romance Writers of America, and the Paranormal Romance Guild.

My Review

When Quentin’s younger brother gets himself into trouble and faces jail time, he begs for help. Quentin does what he’s always done; clean up his brother’s messes, but this time it ends badly.

Sent to jail for eight long years, Quentin comes out a changed man. The life he’d built is gone, his business burnt to the ground. It’s time for a fresh start, but family obligations hang over his head… will Quentin ever get his chance at happiness?

Being the oldest in my family, I could sympathize with Quentin’s need to protect his brother, though I didn’t agree with his choices.

This is a well-written, enjoyable family drama with a slightly anti-climatic ending. The author did a good job developing a complex character- Quentin and Rowdy’s mother. Now, she has issues!

  9. Great review of Jan’s book, Jacquie! I’m almost the oldest sister in the family. Well, my older sister is 10 years older, married, and left home, so I was taking care of my younger siblings. I’m sure I’ll enjoy Jan’s book. Thank you for sharing your review! 🙂
