Geometry in Nature #SundayStills #photography

Terri Webster Schrandt gave us a challenge to find geometric angles in this week’s Sunday Stills. You can join in here.

There are plenty of interesting shapes in the rocks and seed pods from a dandelion in the picture above.

I think the universe is pure geometry – basically, a beautiful shape twisting around and dancing over space-time.

Straight stalks of corn growing tall in a container bed.

This Stargazer lily shows off it’s gorgeous petals highlighted by the squares of the trellis holding it straight and tall.

Love this shot of the sun reflecting on the lagoon and hubby in the foreground.

Fun micro shots of grasses and moss growing near the beach.

Lots of angles here!

It looks like the trees roots are breaking through the wall- amazing!

A multitude of bees can tell the time of day, calculate the geometry of the sun’s position, argue about the best location for the next swarm. Bees do a lot of close observing of other bees; maybe they know what follows stinging and do it anyway.

  1. Some great shots! I have to say though for a minute the tree roots looked like snakes, not sure I could have stuck around and figured out I was wrong.🤣

  2. You caught so many angles and geometry in nature! That first quote is so perfect, Jacquie, well done! Quite amazing when you really look. One would think with all these angles, we would have all done better in geometry class!

  3. What a lovely focus on natural geometry, Jacquie. Funny how I never think of nature that way and yet it’s everywhere. The lily is so beautiful. And the roots in that cracked wall are amazing indeed. A beautiful post. ❤
