DEA Agent Maggie Holt knows about Hell.
After eighteen months undercover in a Mexican cartel, Maggie is broken. The kickass agent she once was, is gone, leaving her riddled with guilt and nightmares. Forced to take paid leave, Maggie accepts the offer of a vacation on the ranch of the man who’d rescued her from an almost certain death.
Frank Stein knows the signs of PTSD, he’d suffered the symptoms himself as Chief Petty Officer of SEAL Team Five. Honorably retired from duty, Frank has found peace at the family ranch and hopes it will do the same for Magdalena. Ever since he’d first met her when she was interrogating his buddy, Jared, Frank has been fascinated by the raven-haired beauty and wants the chance to see where their relationship could go.
Adam O’Connor is Maggie’s partner. He knows her. He loved her once and could again, if she’d let him in. But he’s also angry she took the chances she did by going undercover against orders. And now, things are different. She’s different.
When a right-wing militia group infiltrates the area, will DEA Agent Maggie Holt, her partner, Adam O’Connor, and ex-SEAL Chief Frank Stein be able to set aside their differences to stop them before someone dies? And who will Maggie choose, the handsome cowboy, or her charismatic DEA partner?

Maggie was awake when the men rode out of the yard, their figures tall and straight in the saddle. Even though dawn hadn’t grabbed hold of the day yet, it was easy to distinguish between the three. Adam rode in the middle, the Zen to Frank and Jarrod’s more gregarious personalities—though he didn’t mind instigating a ruckus now and then. She grinned as he swept off his beat up old Red Sox cap and slapped Jarrod’s horse on the rear causing it to dance sideways.
Her gaze migrated to Frank, his shoulders wide enough to carry the weight of the world, but she sensed he was exhausted. She could only imagine the danger his duties had entailed as a Navy SEAL, or the stress of losing his father and brother. He was a strong man. One who instilled undying loyalty in his men. Did he realize how rare that sort of connection was?
She let the curtain fall on their departure and turned toward the door, suddenly eager to escape her demons. The hallway was dark and silent, the other guests taking advantage of the comfortable beds and homemade blankets to get a little extra snuggle time. Maggie envied them. Her brain was still in fight or flight mode. The nightmares of her time as Chenglei’s slave were so vivid she often woke in a cold sweat, her hand reaching for the nearest weapon. She’d gone undercover to ruin him, but she was the one destroyed.
Because the true power is love!
My heroes are tough, alpha males who know what they want. That is until they get gob-smacked by heroines who are strong, contemporary women willing to show them what they really need is love.
I’ve been blessed with a long, happy marriage and enjoy writing romance novels that end with happy-ever-afters.
Jacquie Biggar has a wonderful gift for writing hot and extremely likable military men!
From the time Jacquie was twelve years old, she knew she wanted to be a writer. That year she wrote a short story called Count Daffodil after spending countless hours searching for ideas. The story garnered Jacquie an A and was read aloud through the school’s loudspeaker system. Needless to say, after that she was hooked.
Jacquie grew up, married her best friend, raised a family and left her writing urges to simmer in the background unattended.
She owned and operated a successful diner in her hometown for a number of wonderful years before deciding to live her dream of becoming an author.
Jacquie’s first book, Tidal Falls, a romantic suspense novel about second chances, released September of 2014.
