Welcome, my chuckaboos!  I warn you in advance that I’m flying by the seat of my pantser pants even more than usual today.  My week has been so full of insomnia and interruptions, it’s no wonder Émeraude is looking like a worry wart.   Internet interruptions have become a constant thorn in my side and pain in my patootie.  If you are stuck with a company called TDS Telecom, you have my complete sympathy.

In the interest of getting this posted before I lose Internet too many times (note that I didn’t simply say “again”), there’s little explanation or preamble today.

I’m of two minds — and eras!  Or couldn’t you tell?  Where to go with my midweek post?

I’m still, every so slowly settling into my new home, 2,000 miles away from the place where I lived for ten years.  Meanwhile, I’m also having a great time using  Dan Antion’s photographs and writing my new serial, The Delta Pearl.  It’s a steampunk fantasy, and so has the look of the Victorian Era.  (If you missed Chapter 1 — Dance click the link.)

Yet I also want to finalize the third novel in my Roaring Twenties series, A Ghost in the Kitchen, a Three Ingredients story.

Ciao, amici! I have a treat for urban fantasy fans today. Not one but TWO book reviews of Jacquie Biggar’s Mended Souls series.

It might not be fair to pigeon-hole this series as urban fantasy. It’s so much more. There’s mystery, there’s romance. There’s danger. Really, there’s something for everybody.

My Review:

★★★★★ Heart-Wrenching and Hopeful

I’ve read a handful of titles written by Jacquie Biggar in a few different genres, and one thing remains the same throughout—she doesn’t disappoint.

The Guardian absolutely doesn’t.

This novel plays the “what if” game and asks, “What if you’re the only survivor of a car crash that claims your sister and best friend—and your best friend comes back?”

No, this isn’t a weird Pet Sematary kind of thing. Lucas (the dead best friend) comes back in supernatural form. As an angel.

Oh, how I wish it were true and we could all see…
