Thanks for sharing this book with your readers, Jacquie!
Snowbound with Mr. Wrong is the first book in my sweet romance series, Snowflake Valley, and Iโm thrilled to share that itโs on sale for 99 cents at all online etailers, all through the month of November.ย Also, FYI, all my books can be read as stand-alones, as each hero and heroineโs romance is wrapped up by the end of their story.
From the back cover:
Worst. Day. Ever. After Lyssa Barnettโs sister tricks her into reprising her role at Snowflake Valley’s annual children’s party, she doesnโt think anything can be worse than squeezing into her too-small elf costume. Then tall, dark, and way too handsome Nick Tavlock shows up to play Santaโฆand an unexpected storm leaves them snowbound in the isolated lodge.
The last thing Nick wants is to spend a cozy Christmas Eve with a trio of kids and the woman who dumped him. But as much as Lyssa frustrates him, he can’t stop thinking about her.ย And soon, he’s fighting very un-Santa-like thoughts of kissing a certain sexy Miss Elf under the mistletoe. As Nick starts to fall for Lyssa all over again, he knows it will take nothing short of a miracle to have Lyssa in his arms on Christmas Day.
Excerpt:
As she went down the stairs, heat rose around her. She had turned up the thermostat, and waves of warmth now blasted from every vent in the lodge, as well as from the fire she had lit in the fireplace.
To her surprise, Nick still sat on the long wooden bench just inside the lodgeโs front door. โWouldnโt you feel more comfortable on the couch?โ
โI donโt think a move to another locationโs going to make much difference.โ
โAt least take your boots and jacket off. Youโll get overheated.โ
โMaybe youโve already got me that way.โ
The comment made her thoughts flash to the moment outside when he had slipped and she had attempted to break his fall. Despite the heat in the house, she shivered. Nick grinned. A forced grin that didnโt match his teasing tone. Knowing he had to make himself flirt with her only made her feel cold all over again. โWhatโs the matter?โ she snapped.
He shrugged. โMy ankleโs so swollen, this boot might not come off.โ
She took a deep breath. No way in the world did she want to go near him again. But she couldnโt let him sit here all night. โLet me help.โ She crossed the room and deposited the armload of clothes onto the bench beside him. Then she knelt down and began opening the wet laces of his army boot. โYou should have worn proper boots for snow.โ
โThese do the job back home.โ
โBack home is in California.โ
โYeah. But who knew Iโd be trekking cross-country in a blizzard.โ
โNorthern Nevadaโฆโ she murmured. โDecemberโฆ Might have given you a clue.โ She tugged on the damp laces.
Instantly, he sucked in a breath. A heartbeat later, he grabbed her wrists.
She tried to ignore the warmth of his palms against the backs of her hands. Tried to believe he couldnโt feel her pulse suddenly fluttering beneath his thumbs. Tried not to look up andโฆandโฆ
And this is ridiculous. Months ago, he had broken her heart. That didnโt mean she now had to fall to pieces at his touch.
She looked up, then wished she hadnโt. He was so close. If he lowered his head a fraction, if she raised her chin just an inchโฆ As she mentally attempted to push away the thoughts, her hands jerked his bootlaces.
He let out a yelp.
โSorry. Does it hurt that much?โ
โWhat, having a madwoman trying to amputate my foot with a dull shoestring? Yeah, it hurts like hell.โ
When he sat back, she attempted to be gentler while she loosened the top of his boot. โI knew you werenโt being truthful with me about the pain.โ
โWell, right now, ask me anything you want to know and Iโll give you an honest answer. My future mobility might depend on it.โ
โIโve already had answers enough from you, thanks.โ Ones I didnโt like hearing. โBrace yourself. Iโm going to slide this off.โ She eased the boot down as carefully as she could. He sucked in another breath but said nothing as she freed his foot. When she saw his red-and-white striped sock, she couldnโt hold back a laugh.
โWhatโs so funny? All the best Santas wear these.โ
โReally? I wouldnโt have classified you as one of the best.โ
โKick a man while heโs down, why donโt you?โ
She flushed. โOkay, I admit that was a cheap shot. I owe you one.โ
โWhy donโt I collect right now? Maybe it will help me forget the pain.โ
Before she could blink, Nick tucked his fingers beneath her chin. He leaned down, his intention plain. He was going to kiss her and she was going to let him and the moment their mouths met, all those months she had spent trying to forget him would have been wasted. She had to back off, but where would she find the strength?
