Home for Christmas (Shores of Indian Lake #12) By Catherine Lanigan Contemporary Romance Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages November 1st 2019 by Harlequin Heartwarming
Can a magical Christmas under glass…
…bring them back together for good?
Widowed dad Adam Masterson still doesn’t understand why Joy Boston left Indian Lake and broke his heart all those years ago. Now she’s returned to sell her grandfather’s beloved poinsettia greenhouse—and Joy and Adam’s connection is as strong as ever. But Joy has a life in New York. And Adam has only until Christmas to convince Joy that she belongs in Indian Lake—with him.
They had driven into town and stopped at the light with beautiful Indian Lake dead ahead. Joy leaned forward.
“Pardon?” Roy, the Uber driver, asked.
“Sorry. Nothing. It’s just that I’ve forgotten how pretty this place is. I grew up here.”
“So, you have family here?”
Roy drove into town, past the red sandstone county courthouse with its one-hundred-and-forty-year-old clock tower and onto Maple Boulevard. They passed houses she remembered, belonging to Sarah Jensen and Mrs. Beabots. Saint Mark’s Church. The Indian Lake Police Station. Specters of past, happy days flew around Joy, pulling her back to Indian Lake like magnets. And with each memory, she missed her mother, her father and especially her grandfather all the more.
That was why when Roy drove up to the three glass greenhouses, which her grandfather had built right after World War II, her vision had been blurred by her tears. She couldn’t possibly be seeing correctly.
“What is this?” she asked Roy, like a stupefied tourist.
“Boston Greenhouses.” He waved his hand across the expanse of the windshield. “This is it.”
“No.” She shook her head and opened the door, wiping her eyes. The greenhouses were empty. Totally devoid of even one poinsettia. Panes were filthy, cracked or missing from the glass ceilings and walls. The farthest greenhouse was in the worst condition. Its once perfectly maintained and cleaned brick-and-tile floor now sprouted weeds, frozen back from the cold November weather. Joy walked liked a zombie toward the greenhouse. Her father and grandfather had taught her how to clean the tiles with the sprayer. She’d swept the water away to expose the pretty sand-colored tiles. She’d taken a great deal of pride in the glistening glass walls and ceiling. She and her grandfather had pressure washed those panes every month. Their patrons commented on how good the plants had it when they came to live at Boston Greenhouses.
Joy felt her insides twist. Not only was her grandfather dead, but he’d lied to her. He’d told her he couldn’t come to New York to be with her because he was too busy. It was going to be his best year ever, he’d said.
She turned to Roy. “How long have the greenhouses been closed, Roy?”
“I’m not sure. A few years.”
A few years… Joy’s shock turned to a sense of betrayal.
“Grandpa lied to me. And now he’s gone.”
JOY LOOKED BACK at the weeds growing through the tiles.
“Years. Not just this Christmas, but many holiday seasons it’s been closed.”
She went to the front door, peered through the windows and tried the latch. It was unlocked.
“What?” Why would the door be unlocked? Had the attorney unlocked it? Perhaps when she met Kyle Evans, she’d gain more insight.
She pushed the door and stepped in. She wasn’t prepared for the shock.
As if she’d been swallowed by a time warp, she was eighteen again, rushing in on a Saturday morning to see her grandfather already at the cash register, his big Chicago Cubs coffee mug filled with steaming coffee as he counted the money. She remembered her mother, dressed in jeans, a floral blouse and a rubber apron while she watered the flowers and sang to them. Her father whistled while he carried in heavy sacks of humus and fertilizer to sell. She’d forgotten how much she missed his whistling.
As the door swung closed behind her, a numbing chill enveloped her. The sight of empty shelves, dusty counters and cobwebs around the ceiling where garlands and Christmas ornaments once hung was heartbreaking. The walk-in flower cooler was dark and smelled like mold. The carpet needed shampooing. Worst of all, there were no poinsettias, no life, no energy.
“No Grandpa. No Mom or Dad.”
Joy walked to the checkout counter, where she used to wrap gold and silver foil around the flowerpots and swathe the flowers with colorful print paper to protect the delicate poinsettias. She and her mom would work the counter together. She could almost smell Mom’s rose soap. It was overwhelming.

About It’s In His Christmas Wish: Return to Red River–a beautiful mountain town in the southern Rockies, where the nights are cool and the romance is hot–one last time in this wonderful holiday romance that has as much heart as it does heat.
Maybe some wishes aren’t meant to come true.
Christmas is a hot button for Kimberly Perez, and not in a good way. Having grown up in the foster system, she’s as frugal as she is smart and can’t abide the materialism of the holidays. In an effort to use precious funds to help children in need instead of wasting money on meaningless commercialism, she pitches a new city ordinance to Red River’s town council that would cut all holiday decorations and festivities from the budget.
Ross Armstrong is determined to honor his late sister’s memory by continuing her love of all things Christmas in Red River. But to do so, he’s got to block the passing of a silly new law—and the person behind it—which would essentially ban Christmas altogether.
When their disagreement pits them against each other at a public town council meeting and splits Red River in half, the council chairperson forces them to work together on a new Red River holiday tradition—the Wishing Tree. Can they work together in the true spirit of the holidays, not only to reunite the town they love but to also cultivate the burgeoning feelings they have for each other. Or will their differences turn them into enemies and divide Red River forever?
Hello, my lovelies. As this–my first published series–comes to a close, I’m both excited to start new books set in a different location and sad that the wonderfully quirky characters who make up the heart of Red River will no longer be my focus when I sit down to write every day. Thank you for following this series from start to finish. It’s been a fantastic journey, and just like the characters in the books, there has been ups and there has been downs. But you all have stayed with me every step of the way, and for that I am eternally grateful. So, enjoy Ross and Kimberly’s heartwarming holiday story.

The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby (The Sweetheart Ranch #3) By Cathy McDavid Contemporary Romance Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages November 1st 2019 by Harlequin Heartwarming
She gifted him with a daughter
He stunned her with the truth
When Tanner Bridwell discovers he’s a father, he gains some much needed hope. A year ago, Tanner lost his livelihood as a champion bull rider, and—more important—Jewel Saunders, the love of his life. Now this cowboy wants to do right by his family. But first he must reveal a stunning secret that will send Jewel and his beloved daughter either packing…or into his arms forever!
Teddy Bear lived up to his reputation, causing an enormous commotion as he scrambled backward from the trailer. Once on solid ground, the big horse came to a stop and surveyed his new surroundings, head held high and ears pricked forward. Jewel’s hand on the halter shook as he whinnied loudly, announcing his presence to the other horses.
Her friend Ronnie grinned and gave the horse’s head a scratch. “I think even the brood mares in the back pasture heard you.”
“Do you mind?” Jewel held out the lead rope.
“Come on, big fellow.”
Ronnie led the horse to the stall. With her daughter Ava re-swaddled in the baby wrap, Jewel followed a few minutes later.
After Teddy Bear had spent several minutes inspecting every inch of his new accommodations, Ronnie returned with a flake of hay, which she dropped in the feed bin. Teddy Bear’s head disappeared, only to pop up a moment later, his mouth full of hay and his jaw working.
He’d eaten earlier that morning at the horse-friendly inn where Jewel and Ava had spent the night after arriving in town yesterday. But Jewel allowed the horse a second breakfast, knowing eating would help settle him. Kind of like it did Ava.
“I’ve got to run,” Ronnie said. “I have a wedding cake sampling at Sweetheart Ranch in an hour.”
“That’s right. Your cousin’s getting married. When’s the big day?”
“A week from Saturday. I’m the matron of honor. We’re hoping you’ll take the photographs.”
“I’d be thrilled.”
The two hugged again, and Ronnie left. Jewel stayed behind. She didn’t have to be at Sweetheart Ranch for a while yet, and she much preferred the horse barn over sitting in her stuffy hotel room. She’d feed and change Ava soon and, fingers crossed, the baby would nap through Jewel’s appointment.
Hmm. Maybe she’d run into Ronnie again when she got there.
Ava cooed and flailed her arms and legs. She probably wanted out of the wrap.
Jewel patted the baby’s bottom. “Not much longer, my sweet little girl.”
Hearing a noise, she glanced over to see a man half hidden by the shadows and pushing a wheelbarrow into the horse barn from the opposite end of the aisle. She didn’t pay much attention, not until he drew closer.
She sensed more than saw him come to a stop, and she slowly turned to face him. The hairs on the back of her neck inexplicably rose.
Whatever words she’d been about to utter lodged in her throat as the man emerged from the shadows and his features took shape beneath the weathered cowboy hat he wore. A wild rush of shock and then alarm coursed through Jewel, and she involuntarily tightened her grip on Ava.
She couldn’t have been more stunned if she’d seen a ghost. Then again, she supposed she had, for Tanner Bridwell stood before her.
He looked different. The beard was gone, but she’d have known him and those arresting steel gray eyes anywhere. How could she not, when she’d spent endless hours gazing into them and countless nights dreaming about them?
“What are you doing here?” she blurted.
His stare hardened, and he replied with a question of his own. “Is the baby mine?”
As a sophomore in high school, NY Times, USA Today, and Amazon bestselling author Cathy McDavid won a local writing competition with her self-illustrated children’s book. Who knew that small triumph would eventually lead to a career writing contemporary romances with over 1.3 million books sold? With forty-seven titles to date, Cathy is also a member of the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s Honor Roll. This “almost” Arizona native and mother of grown twins recently married her own real-life sweetheart. After leaving the corporate world four years ago, she now spends her days penning stories about good looking men who ride the range or fight fires or hunt creatures all while sweeping the girl off her feet. It’s a tough job but she’s willing to make the sacrifice.

Single mom Amber Barnett loves family, kids, Christmas…and unfortunately, her boss, confirmed bachelor Michael DeFranco. It’s a crush she really needs to get over. Except, when she’s temporarily forced from her apartment, her only option is to stay at Michael’s private ski lodge, where she’s the housekeeper. No problem. Her handsome boss rarely visits Snowflake Valley unexpectedly, plus he’s spending the holidays with his family. Or so she thinks…
A stormy Christmas Eve reunion leaves Michael seeking the solitude of his lodge, where he finds Amber in residence—and in trouble. Attempting to save her from her matchmaking family, he announces they’re a couple. His good deed backfires when they’re instantly included in each and every holiday event in town. So much for solitude.
Only the more time he spends with the beautiful, cheery brunette, the more he yearns to make things real between them. But he and Amber want different things, and Michael could never be the family man she’s looking for.
“Oh, look at this,” Amber’s sister Lyssa said suddenly. Michael looked up to find her grinning at him. “Here’s one thing Mom doesn’t add to her meatloaf. Mistletoe.” She took the sprig of parsley from his plate and dangled it over his head.
“Uh-oh,” said one of the twins.
“You know what that means,” said the other twin.
“I have to kiss Lyssa?” he asked.
“Hey, man,” Nick said, “kiss your own woman.”
Everyone at the table laughed. Except Amber, who stared at him, wide-eyed.
His own woman. Since he’d met her, he’d fought not to think of her that way. At first, she was married. Then, she was pregnant. Last and always, she was a mom focused on family.
He looked overhead. Lyssa waved the parsley. It wasn’t real mistletoe, and he and Amber weren’t really a couple. But her entire family sat watching. He’d started this whole “together” thing and now he had to see it through. With a quick kiss, that’s all. For her sake.
He slid his arm around her shoulders. “Guess we’ve got to uphold a Christmas tradition, don’t we?”
No big deal. One quick kiss to satisfy her family. One kiss just long enough to feel the softness of her lips, to taste a trace of iced tea, to catch the scent of perfume so light he hadn’t known she was wearing any, to hear… Bells?
No, not bells. The ringing of silverware against glass.
He sat back. Amber looked starry-eyed. The ringing died down, replaced by laughter.
“Thought you were never coming up for air,” Nick said.
“Maybe Mom does need to add some mistletoe to her recipe,” Lyssa said with a laugh.
“In any case,” Mr. Barnett said, “Mom needs to put meatloaf on the menu one of these days. It’s been a while since we’ve had it at home.”
“It has,” Mrs. Barnett agreed. “That’s a good idea. I’ll plan it for later this week. And Michael, you’re invited for supper that night.”
Earth to Michael. He blinked, refusing to look at Amber. “Thanks.” He forced a smile. No sense announcing that no matter what night it was, they wouldn’t need to set a chair at the table for him.
He’d gotten Amber off the hook with her family. But when it came to his feelings for her, he was still dangling like that phony mistletoe. Still fighting. Still trying to pretend those feelings didn’t exist.

Speak of the devil.
She steeled her resolve before turning to face him. “Justin.” She didn’t know what else to say.
He didn’t seem to have any ideas for conversation either, as after he locked his gaze on hers, he then turned and stared at the blank wall on the other side of the room. She didn’t follow suit. Instead, she watched him. And she told herself not to think about how good he looked. Or how much she’d missed him in the last three and a half years.
He sported a trim beard now that was just a touch shorter than his dark hair. His lips were still both a firm slash under a straight nose and as sinfully gentle-looking and kissable as they’d always been. And his lashes remained long, thick, and insanely sexy around his soulful hazel eyes.
Geez, she could so fall under the spell of this man again.
Geez . . . she so had to get a grip, or the next six weeks were going to be both mentally painful as well as sexually frustrating.
She rolled her eyes. She wouldn’t let the latter happen no matter what. Because she was over him. It only took one time of offering herself to a man and having him turn her down—while he also pointed out that if sex did happen, it would be nothing more than sex—for her to get a clue. Justin Cory wasn’t for her, and she wasn’t for him. End of story.
“Mom tells me you haven’t given her a decision yet.” Justin finally spoke, and as he did, those soulful, see-too-much eyes turned back to her.
“You’ve talked to her?” She’d only been gone from Mrs. Cory’s office for three minutes.
“She texted as soon as you left. Says I have to make sure you stay in town.”
At this, Bree lifted her brows. “You have to make sure?” Why on earth would that be the case?
He lifted a shoulder. “She seems to think it’s my fault that you never come home for more than a couple of days.”
“And my fault that you left in the first place.”
Bree stared at him, unwilling to agree to either statement. “And here I always thought of your mother as a smart woman.”
At her reply, Justin merely blinked.
“You know that I’d always intended to leave,” she pointed out. She also fervently hoped he’d forgotten that she’d also once offered to leave with him.
“That’s what I told Mom.”
“Then I don’t understand why you’re even standing here.”
His jaw tensed, and his eyes went flat like they had Friday night. “I’m standing here because my mother asked me to. Can I tell her your answer is yes?”
He could tell his mother anything he wanted to. But she wasn’t telling him a thing.

With a dash of Christmas magic… Two people who have spent most of their lives being rivals… Learn a little something about following their hearts…
Carter Montgomery broke the family mold when he went to culinary school. Now a successful restauranteur, he’s at a crossroads: should he continue on his successful path or look for a new challenge? What he needs is time alone to think things through. But his matchmaking family has other ideas…
Emery Monaghan’s no-good fiancé has embroiled her in scandal and she needs a way out. When mentor Eliza Montgomery offers her a refuge, she’s relieved—until she realizes that the deal means rubbing elbows with Eliza’s son Carter—Emery’s childhood nemesis.
She motioned to the table. “Let’s eat!”
He joined her and found it hard to focus on the food in front of him—he was still in awe of the transformation of the house. “I can’t believe you pulled this off.”
She smiled and picked up her burger. “I’m extremely organized and efficient. In other words, I had a plan.”
Picking up his own burger, he looked at her and saw how pleased she was, unsure if it was because of a job well-done or the greasy treat she was eating. His stomach growled, and he needed to ignore how unhealthy the meal was and just…go for it. “Well, color me impressed,” he said, referring to her, but realized it could also have meant the meal.
It was surprisingly good.
When neither had spoken for several minutes because they were too busy eating, Emery leaned over and said, “Welcome to the Dark Side. We have empty calories.”
Carter almost choked on his food but managed to swallow it down before reaching for his drink. Her sense of humor was something he was finding to be utterly charming.
Add that to the list.
There was no time to dwell on it, however, because he was almost done with his burger and was seriously enjoying it.
Now that deserved some dwelling.
“Admit it,” Emery said from beside him, leaning back in her chair. “You enjoyed it.”
She laughed, husky and sexy, and…he seriously needed a distraction.
Reaching over, she looked in the second bag and then gave him a knowing glance. “Who are these chicken nuggets for?”
“Oh, um… I thought you might like them,” he said, not wanting to look at her. Carter busied himself with finishing his fries—which were salted to perfection.
“Hmm. I don’t know if I could eat them right now.” He heard her rummaging around in the bag again. “And what about this? Is this some sort of apple pie?”
She laughed again—loud and hearty. “Carter Montgomery, you better admit right now that you bought all of this for you because you remember what it’s like to eat like a normal person!”
He lost the battle with his own laughter. “I will do no such thing.”
Standing, Emery took the bag with the extra food and made her way across the kitchen. “Well then, as much as I appreciate the thought, I’m way too full to eat another bite, so…I’ll just throw this out.”
“Wait…what?” he cried, coming to his feet. “Why would you do that?”
With a careless shrug, she replied, “These things never reheat well, so it’s pointless to save it. Besides, what do you care? I can give you the five bucks they cost you, if you’d like.” The bag was dangling over the trash pail, and the look on her face was full of challenge.
“Emery,” he began as he took a step toward her. “Just…put the bag down.”
“And nobody gets hurt?” she teased before letting out a very feminine giggle.
Deciding to stall, Carter studied her. “I just hate to see food go to waste.”
“All you have to do is admit you got it for you. Just say the words and I’ll put the food back on the table.” She shook the bag for good measure. “Come on. I dare you.”
Those were fighting words.
Before he could question it, he lunged for her and Emery let out a high-pitched squeal before taking off around the kitchen island. By their third time around, Carter caught her around the waist and spun her while she cried out, “Uncle! Uncle!” They were both laughing hysterically by the time he collapsed back in his chair with her in his lap. It took several minutes for them to calm down.
“Man, you just cannot stand to be proven wrong,” she said, but made no attempt to move from the circle of his arms.
This was dangerous territory. He knew that. It felt far too good to hold her. Turning his head, he inhaled the smell of her shampoo, daring to lean in further until his lips were touching her ear.
Softly, he murmured, “Just give me the apple pie, and nobody gets hurt.”
It was meant to be funny—a small joke to go along with all the teasing they’d been doing—but it didn’t feel so funny when Emery let out a low moan at his words.
“Make me,” she whispered, and—holy crap. It was all Carter could do not to haul her over his shoulder and take her inside to his bedroom.
Her name came out as a plea as Carter ran his tongue along the shell of her ear. Emery trembled in his arms as they tightened around her. The bag fell to the floor and she shifted ever so slightly so they were nose to nose. Then it was her turn to sigh his name. Her hand came up and cupped his cheek, and for a moment, he was afraid to move. Afraid to breathe. He didn’t want to risk doing anything to break the spell or ruin the moment.
It would kill him.
Reaching up, he mimicked her pose by cupping her cheek. He owed it to her to be honest.
“This isn’t about making either of us stop talking,” he said gruffly. “This is about me kissing you because I have to.”
Slowly, Emery licked her lips. “Good.”
It was as if everything happened in slow motion from there—like they were being drawn together by forces beyond their control, and when their lips touched, they both sighed and eased into it.
All Carter could think was how this was possibly his sweetest victory ever with Emery—knowing she wanted his kiss just as much as he needed to kiss her.

In Alaska, it’s always a white Christmas—but the sparks flying between two reunited friends could turn it red-hot…
If there’s one gift Erika Sheraton does not want for Christmas, it’s a vacation. Ordered to take time off, the workaholic surgeon reluctantly trades in her scrubs for a ski suit and heads to Wild River, Alaska. Her friend Cassie owns a tour company that offers adventures to fit every visitor. But nothing compares to the adrenaline rush Erika feels on being reunited with Cassie’s brother, Reed Reynolds.
Gone is the buttoned-up girl Reed remembers. His sister’s best friend has blossomed into a strong, skilled, confident woman. She’s exactly what his search-and-rescue team needs—and everything he didn’t know he craved. The gulf between his life in Wild River and her big-city career is wide. But it’s no match for a desire powerful enough to melt two stubborn hearts…
“An Alaskan Christmas is heartwarming, romantic, and utterly enjoyable.”—New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster
“Prepare to have your heartstrings tugged! Pure Christmas delight.”—New York Times bestselling author Lori Wilde
“Readers will enjoy the mix of sexy love scenes, tense missions, and amiable banter. This entertaining introduction to Wild River will encourage fans of small-town contemporaries to follow the series.”—Publishers Weekly
“An exciting contemporary series debut with a wildly unique Alaskan setting.”—Kirkus
The girl who’d crossed [Reed’s] mind just the night before was walking toward him with his sister. Unfortunately, she was hardly a girl anymore. Dressed in a red-and-black checked cashmere coat, cinched at her tiny waist with a leather belt, a red hat covering her mocha-colored hair and three-inch, impractical yet sexy leather boots, she was definitely not a little girl anymore.
What the hell was she doing here?
Tyler and Wade gave up their barstools to the women, waving as they headed toward a booth.
“See ya, guys,” he said. Then turning to his sister, “Hey, Cass, who’s your friend?” He wiped the bar in front of them and set down two new coasters.
His sister shot him a look that resembled a plea for help…or for something strong. Obviously this visit was as much of a surprise to her. He reached for the top-shelf premium vodka and held up the bottle.
She nodded, removing her scarf and coat. “Make it a double. This is Erika… You remember her, don’t you?” She placed her coat over the stool before climbing up.
Erika was still scanning the bar as though she hadn’t decided yet if she was going to stay.
“Um… Erika.” He pretended to think. “Right, yes, I remember—how’ve you been?”
She finally looked at him, her eyebrows furrowed. “We’ve met?”
Unbelievable. He’d only held her in the woods overnight so she didn’t have a panic attack.
“You have to remember my brother, Reed,” Cassie said, motioning for him to be quicker with her drink.
Erika’s mouth gaped slightly.
There you go. He knew he’d changed over the years. In high school, he’d been tall and lanky…skinny was a better term. Food wasn’t always plentiful at home and being active in every sport that he could play for free had him burning energy faster than his body could keep up. Luckily, he’d discovered weight training. “Hard to believe this hunk is the same guy, huh?” he asked when she continued to stare.
Her look of disbelief was quickly replaced with a disapproving, incredulous one. “Do you own this place?”
“Nope. I’m just here to encourage copious amounts of alcohol and misbehaving,” he said, his jaw tight. Within seconds, she had him feeling like the teenage kid who wasn’t sure he’d ever amount to anything. Over the years, his confidence had grown along with the size of his biceps. Very little shook him, so how this woman he hadn’t seen in years had him agitated, he didn’t know. No doubt, their history was part of it.
“He makes the best cranberry martinis in Wild River. Have a seat,” Cassie said, gesturing to the barstool next to her.
“Or don’t.” Reed shrugged when Erika hesitated.
She ignored him as she examined the barstool. Picking up a napkin, she wiped the seat before removing her coat and sitting, folding the coat over her legs. Ready for a quick exit if needed.

Noah was acutely aware of the child and his mother, their bodies tense as the snow seemed to take aim at them, sending hypnotizing white bullets against the windshield.
“Is it always like this?” Molly asked, her voice shaky in the dark interior.
“Lake Superior isn’t known for its moderate climate, Miss McCarty,” he said, flicking a glance her way. Shock was a concern. He wanted to get her and the kid inside the house before the storm got worse. “What did you expect when you accepted the offer to move to Christmas, Michigan?”
She choked out a laugh. “Something a bit more romantic? Snowmen and elves and mistletoe, maybe. And it’s Mrs.,” she added.
She was married. Good. Easier, since they would be sharing a house. “Is your husband joining you for Christmas?” If so, he’d make himself scarce. He had no interest in seeing their homecoming celebration.
“That’s unlikely, we’re divorced,” she said, and shifted as though uncomfortable with the conversation. “Why did you need a partner, Mr. Kinkade? You seem less than pleased to have us here.”
She had that right. “My aunt wanted you, not me.” She could take that however she liked.
“Oh, I get it.” The humor in her voice rankled. “You don’t seem the social butterfly type.”
“Hell, no,” he muttered, slanting a glance at his passengers. “Sorry, not used to kids.” Leo was staring outside, mesmerized by the falling snow. Molly’s gaze was focused on Noah, and she turned away when he caught her, as though embarrassed.
“Leo knows not to use bad words, but don’t be surprised if he doesn’t come after you to donate to the swear jar, he’s saving for a bicycle. I’m trying to break the habit, too,” she admitted.
With her wavy blond hair and blue eyes to rival the midnight sky, Molly looked more like an angel than a lowly human with faults.

Shopping for a Baby’s First Christmas
Publication date: December 6th 2018
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance
My mother wants all her kids and grandkids to spend Christmas Eve at her house and wake up on Christmas morning together.
Sounds reasonable, right?
And it would be.
If it weren’t my mother.
My husband, Declan, is protesting any involvement, though he’s openly intrigued by the idea of claiming his territory by suggesting we have sex in my childhood bed.
And by ‘suggest,’ I mean make a series of really hot offers that make me whimper when I have to say no.
Wait – why am I saying no again?
Mom has turned her house into a Christmas showcase that makes Frankenmuth look like the picked-over clearance rack at Target on December 26. You know those crazy people on Etsy who make felted gnomes out of belly button lint and use … a certain kind of hair… to make thatched roofs on little decorative elf homes?
Those people are saner than my mother.
There is no force of nature stronger — and more emotionally volatile — than a fifty-something grandmother determined to create holiday memories.
Wait a minute. Maybe there is.
“Mmmmm,” I hear myself purring as I open my eyes in the big king-size bed at our Victorian B&B here in the Berkshires. A bed that I can stretch out in, because I smell coffee from afar and Dec isn’t between the sheets.
Neither is our seven-month-old daughter, Ellie.
I have the entire bed to myself. I might be married to a billionaire, but when you’re the mother of a clingy baby, this right here is true luxury.
A whiff of cinnamon accompanies that coffee and now I wonder if I’m dreaming. My naked body rolls against the high-thread-count Egyptian cotton and my legs are smooth. As I stretch, I realize my nipples are free. No one is touching me.
This must be a dream.
In real life, there would be a baby babbling “Da da da da da” in tones that either mean happiness, terror, hunger, or plain old pay-attention-to-me-now-because-I-am-the-center-of-the-universe, you-underling.
But not now.
In real life, there are always busy fingers exploring my ears and pulling my earrings and poking into my my mouth when I try to talk on the phone.
And in real life, little teeth bite down, hard, when my milk runs out.
So I must be dreaming, because as I open my eyes, a handsome, hot, endlessly naked man is smiling at me, hair tousled over his forehead as he holds two steaming mugs of coffee and says in a low, happy voice, “You’re up!”

Nick and Eve
(North Pole Unlimited, #3)
Publication date: November 19th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Nick’s plan: dodge his grandmother’s matchmaking attempts by claiming Eve is his date for Christmas. He probably should have asked Eve first.
Although Nick Klassen is grateful when Eve rides to his rescue after he breaks down outside of December, Manitoba, he can’t run fast enough when his meddling grandmother tries to set him up with the pretty tow-truck driver. Then he gets an idea.
Between juggling extra hours at work and a never-ending Christmas to-do list, Eve LeBlanc doesn’t have time for a new man in her life. But ever since she picked Nick up on the side of the road, she’s been running into him everywhere.
His flirtations started innocently enough but when his grandmother invites “his girlfriend” to the family’s Christmas dinner, Nick realizes if he wants to stop pretending about Eve, he must come clean. Once Eve learns of his deception, he’ll need Santa’s help to turn their fake relationship in the real thing.
Eve rolled to a stop in the driveway. “This is impressive.” Strings of unlit Christmas lights framed his grandmother’s two-storey house and circled the spruce tree in the front yard. Plastic candy canes stuck in the snowbanks lined the sidewalk, and a pinecone-studded wreath twice the size of the one on the tow-truck’s grill hung from the screen door.
“You should see the inside. Can you wait till I’m certain her car will start? She hasn’t run it in a couple weeks,” Nick said.
His grandmother must have been watching from the window, because the front door opened before they hit the first step. “Come in, it’s freezing out here,” she said.
The entranceway and the adjacent living room were fully Christmas-bombed, from the reindeer-shaped sofa cushions to the double-decker white candy bowl stand, which had a Frosty face and top hat stuck to the top of the wire frame. Nick held back a snicker as Eve spun in a three-sixty and breathed a quiet, “Whoa.”
“You’re not kidding,” he whispered back.
“I’m Adelaide Klassen. Who might you be?” his gran asked. She was dressed for her appointment. After a lifetime of seeing her in business suits at the office, it was always a shock to Nick’s system to see his grey-haired grandmother in jeans and a plaid, flannel shirt.
Eve gave Adelaide’s hand a hearty shake. “Eve LeBlanc, tow-truck driver.”
“It’s lovely to meet you. Are you a special friend of Nick’s?”
Nick sighed. She was starting, and they’d been in the house for thirty seconds. “No, Gran, she’s not my girlfriend.”
“I just picked him up on the side of the road. I must say he is the cutest stray I’ve come across in a while,” Eve added with a smile.
“Don’t encourage her!”
Elle Rush is a contemporary romance author from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. When she’s not travelling, she’s hard at work writing books which are set all over the world. From Hollywood to the house next door, her heroes will make you sigh and her heroines will make you laugh out loud.

I happened to glance at the calendar today and almost had a heart attack; Christmas will be here before I know it!
I’m so ill-prepared this year. Normally, I begin shopping as early as June (I know :)) but I hate trying to come up with ideas at the last minute. There’s nothing worse than spending hard-earned cash on a gift you just know is going to end up in a corner or under a bed somewhere, right?
I considered going the gift card route- easy, safe- but my daughter would probably disown me, lol.
So this is what I’m going to do:
Tell me your best gift ideas ( not too expensive- struggling writer here! ) and I’ll choose three of the best to receive $10 Amazon gift cards, winner determined in next month’s holiday update post.

One of my favorite childhood books was about a lonely man trapped in a beast’s body who meets and falls in love with a beautiful woman, but feels unworthy of her heart.
Of course, this is the story of Beauty and The Beast, a classic that has been retold many times over the years.
Mistletoe Inn is my version of this tale, I hope you’ll enjoy this sweet and heartwarming story.
