Ford V Ferrari
American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and fearless British race car driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari atΒ the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
My Review
I’m a diehard Ford fan, so when I saw this movie come out I was excited.
Matt Damon, playing Carroll Shelby, is approached by an ailing Ford Motor Company after his last race due to a heart condition. They tempt him to design a car fast enough to beat Ferrari in the grueling 24 hour Le Mans Race.
Shelby accepts the challenge and calls in ace mechanic and driver Ken Miles, along with a trusted team of engineers. They create the Ford GT40, with speeds up to 215 miles an hour.
Henry Ford’s executives insist on a different driver than Miles, angering Shelby who knows he can win. Carroll gambles his company on the Grand Prix- If Miles won, he drov the Le Mans. If he lost, Carroll lost his company.
Ken Miles took the lead in the last lap for an exciting first place finish, guaranteeing him a spot in the Le Mans against the Ford group’s wishes. Trouble dogs the team with brake issues, steering problems, and a light front end, but the race goes on.
There is a surprise ending that I don’t want to give away, but you might need tissues!
I give Ford V Ferrari five lovely kisses- a great date night movie π

This sounds like an exciting story, nice review Jacquie.

Henry Ford II would have been much better off clearing out his executives instead of listening to them so much!

Girl? You have a Mustang? It’s hot! Growing up and living today too in Ford country, I don’t know why I haven’t gone to see this yet. Great review. I drive a Ford and I’m pretty much surrounded by them in Motown.

They’re so reliable, I love mine. This is a must-see movie, Mary. The racing is breathtaking, but it’s the friendship between Shelby and Miles that really shines.

Born and raised in Detroit. My first love affair with a car was a V8 49 Ford club coupe. Had that puppy tricked out for the street races on Woodward avenue. Could beat anything until the 1957 chevy V8 was introduced.

That sounds fun! It’s hard to beat the roar of a V8, though we had a Lamborghini give us a thrill off a stop light one day. I could feel the revs from his throttle right through my chest π
