Friday’s Deal of the Day is The Player- on sale for just $0.99!
Covid-19 is kicking many things in the butt, including hockey. For sports enthusiasts it must seem like the final straw in an already stressful year. I can’t bring back the thrill of a live game to its fans, but the Men of WarHawks are here to score some love in the meantime ๐

Sometimes, love happens when we least expect itโฆ
NHL defenseman Roy Donaldson lives for the game. When an ex-girlfriend/stalker causes trouble for the team, Roy gets benched.
And the only way he can return to the rotationโฆ? Accept help from sassy, sexy PA Patience Kennedy.
Patience is one step away from a junior partnership– all she needs to do is restore a sullen, annoying, attractive hockey player’s image.
Shouldn’t be too hard, right?
What Readers are Saying
Jacquie Biggar mixes all the right ingredients, even touching on mental illness and family relations both good and bad. The authorโs breezy writing, witty observations and dialogue are a pleasure to read.
Mae Clair- Amazon Reviewer
Not only is there humor and a budding romance, but it also deals with more serious subjects like mental illness. This can be read as a standalone, but itโs nice to be familiar with the WarHawks team. A well-written romance with that happily ever after that I enjoy and highly recommend!

Oh this one took a surprising turn and I couldnโt put it down. I wonโt give any spoilers but it is a doozy! It is well written and a nice blend of sports player, strong woman, romance,a touch of humor, twists, family and yes, suspense!

Exclusive Excerpt
Blood rushed through Oliviaโs veins, pounding in her ears and at her temples, as she waited with bated breath for Royโs response. Sheโd been planning this virtual meeting ever since the radio station started advertising word of the upcoming interview with the great Roy Donaldson. Each time they clashed it reminded her of the thrill of being with him. Sheโd never had a lover like Roy, and she wasnโt ready to give him up to some overblown bimbo. He belonged to her.
โHello, Roy? Are you still there?โ she sing-songed, getting a kick out of poking the bear.
โIโm here,โ he answered, his voice a controlled growl almost better than foreplay. โWhy are you doing this, Olivia?โ
Because youโre worth it, popped unbidden into her head, along with the hurt. She was grateful for the tide of anger that flowed behind it, killing the pain the way heโd destroyed their relationship. The way she was going to ruin him.
โWhy, honey, I donโt know what you mean. I realize becoming a father is a big step, but I didnโt expect you to run the other way.โ She smirked, practically seeing the steam coming through air waves.
โDonโt turn this on me. I broke up with you because youโre crazy and not for any other reason. I am not your babyโs father, so you can just take this stupid game youโre playing and shove it up yourโฆโ His voice became muffled as though his mouth was covered. A moment later, she came on the air.
โIโm sorry, Mr. Donaldson isnโt feeling wellโa flu bug. He would like to thank his listeners and assure them he will be back to work in no time.โ
The announcerโs voice was overloud in the spartan hotel room. โWell, of course. Sorry we had to cut the interview short, folks, but thatโs the way it goes in showbiz.โ He gave an awkward laugh. โAny final words, caller number two, before we return to our regular programming?โ
The old coot. He wanted a sensational story to spike his ratings. Just so happens Olivia had one to share.
She set her voice to shaky. โI didnโt mean to cause a scene. Roy and I, weโve been through tough times. He has a temperโnot that heโd ever hit meโheโs not like that, butโฆ sometimesโฆ Anyway, weโll work it out. Call me, Roy. Soon.โ Satisfaction flared. Other than the touch of venom at the end, sheโd hit the right notes of heartbreak and hope. No one was going to stand behind him now, least of all his damn teammates. Heโd be blackballed for life. Lost and lonely. Just the way heโd left her.
Once again fury took over and Olivia flung the burner phone across the room, shattering the mirror over the cheap dresser. She stared at her reflection in the splintered glass, emotions as fractured as her image. Angry tears rolled down her cheeks and her hair looked as though she hadnโt brushed it in a week. She was falling apart, and it was all that damn hockey playerโs fault. If obsession was a sickness, then she was dying.
It had to stop.
She scrubbed trembling fingers through her hair, wincing at the knots, and turned as the door opened and her no-good brother stepped through the entry, bag of groceries in hand.
He took one look at the damage sheโd done and turned to leave. โLooks like youโre busy,โ he mumbled.
Impatience met dark humor. He was an idiot. โGet in here, you imbecile. You can help me clean this mess up. I canโt afford another room.โ
Obviously reluctant, he closed the door and set the bag on the wobbly table in front of ugly brown drapes closed for privacy. โWeโll be lucky if we donโt get kicked out. Geez, sis, what happened?โ
She shot him a glare. โIt was an accident, okay? Just help me clean it up, and for Peteโs sake, donโt cut yourself. I canโt stand the sight of blood.โ Though she might make an exception if it was Royโs.
โNot to mention me bleeding to death,โ Paul grumbled, but he got down and began piling the pieces into the waste can.
Olivia left him to it, closing herself in the utilitarian bathroom. She needed a shower. It was time to up her game.
Poor Roy, he’s got his hands full with Olivia. Read on to see what happens next…
Bought my copy. I love the hockey series. (I love hockey. Hopefully the NHL comes back in January like they’re trying to.) Great deal. Thanks for the sale!

They’re allowing juniors to practice here (no games) but without any spectators in the hall.
Thanks, Staci. I hope you enjoy the story!

I’ve read this before and enjoyed it very much. If you have no interest in sports, don’t let that be a deterrent. This is a romance book with lots of sparks flying between the hockey player, Roy, and the PR expert, Patience, who helps Roy rebuild his image. Throw in the crazy ex-girlfriend, and you’ve got a recipe for action and romance.
