RIDE ROUGH - Teaser 3

RIDE ROUGH by Laura Kaye – EXCERPT – Ride with me

“Ride with me.” The words flew out of Maverick’s mouth, and he didn’t want to take them back even though, fuck, it put him out there to be smacked down again. But damn if it wouldn’t be worth it to feel her holding him, pressed up tight against him, laughing in his ear.

Alexa hesitated and maybe even looked a little nervous, but Maverick could see the interest in the liveliness of her eyes.

“Don’t think. Just say yes,” he said.

Alexa tilted her head and narrowed her gaze at him, and then she smiled. “Okay. Yes.”

That’s my girl. He kept the sentiment to himself, but he felt it down deep. His Alexa was in there. The one who could throw caution to the wind and have fun doing absolutely nothing. The one who laughed freely and bantered relentlessly. Maverick gave a single nod.

“Let me tell Mom. Be right back,” she said.

“I’ll bring the bike around.” Maverick took a step backward, but then paused when Alexa turned and hurried toward the house. His gaze traced her curves and lingered on the bare skin of her thighs. Thighs that were going to be wrapped around him in just a few short minutes. Thighs that had been wrapped around him in all kinds of ways many times. Many times. Fuck.

A few houses down, Maverick straddled his Harley Night Rod Special and brought the engine to life on a low rumble. He pulled the bike to the curb in front of the Harmon house and waited. He didn’t have to wait long.

Alexa came flying out through the garage. She made eye contact with him and it fucking seared his blood. For some reason this ride felt weighted with a significance he couldn’t put into words. And he wasn’t trying. He was just going to enjoy the hell out of it. Because Maverick knew her agreeing this one time didn’t change anything. Not anything important.

By the time she reached him, Alexa was smiling even though he could tell she was trying to hold that shit back. But she couldn’t, and that got to him, too. For a moment, she hesitated, like she wasn’t sure what to do. No way that was it, though, because even though it had been years, she’d been in his saddle as many times as his bed. He suspected the real issue was giving herself permission to do what she was gonna have to do—get close and hold tight. To him.

Something she hadn’t done in years.

But then she did it.

Missing Pieces (A Chandler County Novel)

A Story of Love, Trust & Honor

17841780_667887290084508_1151115451_n

Chandler County, Where the Unbridled Spirit of Romance Roams

I am pleased to partner with my friend and fellow author, PJ Fiala to sponsor the Chandler County multi-branded author series and honored to release Missing Pieces, the first book from the series,   on April 11th 2017. My second book, entitled Missing Home, will be released in November 2017. Nine other authors will publish their books in this exciting endeavor during 2017. All books are based on our fictional towns, Chandlerville and Bourbonville Kentucky, ‘where the unbridled spirit of romance roams’.

17858949_667887433417827_1234396565_o

I had such a great time researching and writing Missing Pieces, my first romantic suspense novella. Chandlerville  is the perfect setting for my dynamic, unpredictable, capricious and occasionally unscrupulous characters. There’s never a dull moment with these folks.

17858643_667887483417822_22277922_o

As Chandlerville prepares for a series of local celebrations in honor of the annual Kentucky Derby in nearby Louisville, Kentucky, chaos ensues threatening to cancel the town’s festivities.

Rachel Blakely’s (editor of the Chandler County Chronicles), partnership  with ex-NYC socialite, AJ Manning crumbles in the midst of their planning for the town’s Derby-related activities.  AJ is the mayor’s wife and Rachel discovers that  Fitzgerald Manning, the mayor’s father, has close ties to an unidentified conglomerate of farm investors who may be coercing local farmers to sell their land.

Jairo Aquino, aka Blue, a handsomely, mysterious newcomer is trusted by no one and appears to have an investment scheme of his own. Arriving in Chandler County from Miami, Florida, Aquino has decided to put Chandler County on the map. “His plan was air tight. He just had to find a few missing pieces.”

Rachel and Blue continue to cross paths until they reach a point of no return where they accept they can no longer ignore the sizzle of their interactions and their constricted heart strings that cause them to question the true nature of their relationship.

Can she trust him? Can he trust her? Can they together find the missing pieces?

I invite you to read Missing Pieces, a story about trust and relationships. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Stephany interviewed her favorite character today in anticipation that you might enjoy getting to know him.

Take it away Stephany 🙂

It was hard for me to choose only one of my characters as each is unique and contributes greatly to my overall story. Note that my favorite presented the biggest challenge to me as a writer and perhaps that is why he is so special to me.

Perhaps when you read the justification for my selection and read my book, you will agree with my choice. We’ll see.

ME: My favorite character is Jairo Aquino, aka, Azul and if he really likes you he will allow you to call him Blue.

I like Blue (notice I call him Blue) because first of all, he is extremely handsome and very tall, so what’s not to like? Secondly, he personifies the mysterious. I like that most people try to figure out who he is and more importantly, what he’s up to before they even know him. No one seems to want to take him at face value. If they only knew, he is what he appears to be–deeply mysterious and complex.

Q: What is Blue’s most noticeable characteristic?

ANS: His hair. It’s thick and slick. In my opinion, his hair is reflective of his personality–uncontrollable, yet precise. Although he wears his hair long on top, his sides are shaped to taper into his beard. His piercing midnight blue eyes are said to be ‘bewitching’. Having thought about it, perhaps both his hair and his eyes make for his attention getting good looks, i.e. his most noticeable characteristics.

Q: What quality does Blue like most in the opposite sex?

ANS: Good looks. Dark hair. Tall, with long legs. Unfortunately, his past has taught him that these qualities alone don’t offer much more than a good night or two, if he’s lucky. Surprisingly, he doesn’t seem to be searching for these same qualities in Chandlerville.

Q: If Blue could change one thing about him/herself, what would it be and why?

ANS: His lack of trust and suspicious nature about people. He believes he developed this characteristic because everyone he has every trusted has bailed out on him, leaving him holding the bag and/or alone. He admits to himself that he feels a jealous twinge when he sees a happy go lucky couple strolling across a beach and an even bigger twinge when that same happy couple is splashed by their couple of kids who precede them on their early morning walk. Sometimes he thinks if he could trust just one person, he might have a chance at happiness.

Q: Where and when was Blue the happiest?

ANS: ? Blue doesn’t recall a time in his life when he was truly happy. He believes he will be happy when he succeeds on his planned business investments in Chandler County. Happiness equals money which dictates status; i.e. success.

ST: What is Blue’s most prized possession?

ANS: His buddy and best friend Cuba, a chocolate, blue eyed great Dane. Blue feels he can be himself when with Cuba and besides their unusual colored eyes, he feels they have a lot in common. Cuba understands him. He views Cuba as his not so silent partner. They trust each other. Blue would never regard Cuba as a possession and would be quick to let someone who dared to call or treat him as such not to make the mistake again.

Q: What is Blue’s  favorite motto or expression?

ANS: ‘Seize the Day’ a quote from Homer that has driven his life style. Blue believes, develops a plan and then acts. He’s never regretted acting on a decision he’s made because his philosophy is that it is better to act and make a mistake rather than not to act at all. Rachel Blakely, the one and only long-legged pretty Chandlerville lady to catch his eye is not at all impressed with his seize the day mentality.

Q: What  does Blue like/enjoy/dislike most about Chandler County?

ANS: Blue can’t make up his mind about Chandler County and, in particular, Chandlerville, because he’s always lived in big cities, most recently Miami. But the laid back, small town life style has calmed his usually high strung disposition. Cuba loves running free and digging in the dirt without anyone caring. Sometimes when Blue least expects it, a nagging thought surfaces. Can the success he expects to find in Chandlerville possess the other missing pieces from his life? Love, trust, relationship and success might just be a package deal.

Rum Runner
Tricia Leedom
(The Key West Escape, #1)
Published by: Ink Monster LLC
Publication date: July 18th 2017
Genres: Adult, Adventure, Romance

Perfect for fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Janet Evanovich, this action-packed debut from a fresh voice in contemporary romance offers a sexy and comedic take on love, adventure, and what it means to trust your heart.

English socialite Sophie Davies-Stone has been longing to meet her father since she was a little girl. When he sends her a mysterious medallion and asks her to forward it to him in Miami, she can’t help herself from doing something totally un-Sophie-like. Rather than mailing it as instructed, Sophie hops on a flight to Florida.

But the family reunion never happens. Instead, Sophie is attacked and almost kidnapped by her father’s enemies. Her savior is Jimmy Panama, a cocky and annoyingly handsome former Navy SEAL. Sophie isn’t the only one who’s annoyed. After years of trying to find a way to pay back his CO, Jimmy never thought his debt would get him mixed up with his commander’s uptight, British daughter. He just wants to put her on the next flight home and get back to his low-stress life in Key West, but fate has other plans.

As Sophie and Jimmy embark on a heart-pounding adventure through Key West and the Caribbean, Sophie finds herself falling for the snarky American. Still, her head says Jimmy is all wrong for her, and the more she finds out about him – and her father – the more uncertain she is about who she can trust.

One thing is clear. Sophie is in way over her head, and her greatest adventure might be her last.

Team Russian front high res

EXCERPT:

I’m due to record a quick interview in the Club Room with a player nicknamed Buzz – a  Defender just back from injury and playing for the hottest sports team known to man, well woman – the Saints. Room Three; I check the number, wander in and holy-naked-guys-getting-rub-downs … it appears I’m one of the few with clothes on.

Half a dozen faces turn and smile at me; I see a flash of glowing tight, tanned butts, muscly legs, toned arms, even a groin or two that was just ‘out there’.

“Ah, sorry wrong room,” I say, as I stumble backward, trying not to look anywhere but out the door.

“Are you looking for the coach?” a voice from the corner booms.

I put my hands over my eyes, web my fingers a little which sets them off laughing again and look towards the voice. It was The Russian.

“No, I’m after Buzz, he said to meet at this time in Room Three.” My face was burning red, but I think other parts of my body were enjoying it.

I could see several of the physios shaking their head, smiling, and the youngest answered.

“It’s his party trick. He thinks it’s funny. Don’t worry, you’re not the first journo to fall victim.”

“I’ll give him funny when I see him,” I muttered.

“Room eight, Carla,” the deep baritone voice said again. The Russian. He knew my name.

“Thank you,” I said, spinning on my heels to leave before I was magnetically drawn to that tall, dark, and gorgeous hunk of a man in the corner. Mm, The Russian.

Don’t sleep with your best friend: The Player by @NanaMalone #SportsRomance #amreading @ExpressoReads

Fox
Nana Malone
(The Player, #4)
Publication date: April 11th 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Sports

Money, power, prestige…washout. Fox Coulter is…the Player.

There is no Plan B for Fox. All he has is hockey. All he’s ever had is hockey. That and his best friend, Sasha. So when she’s up rent creek with no roommate, it’s Fox to the rescue. But, with the opportunity of a lifetime on the line will his hotter-than-sin-best friend be more of a distraction than his lucky charm?

Sasha Tenison believes everyone should have rules. Rules like:

· Don’t ogle your best friend while he works out shirtless. It doesn’t matter how many muscles or tattoos he has.

· Don’t fantasize about what he tastes like, even if it’s been years since anyone’s kissed you.

· Don’t sleep with your best friend just because he’s hot, sexy, and the only one to ever believe in you.

Breaking even one of these rules will ruin everything. But one toe curling kiss from Fox and she’s ready to change her name to Rule Breaker.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks

EXCERPT:

This is just a kiss. Fox’s thoughts swirled in his head. Liar.

He gently brushed his lips to hers. There was an immediate spark.

What the hell?

Instead of pulling back, Fox chased that spark. Sasha parted her lips in a gasp, his tongue sliding into the warm depth of her mouth, asking hers to play. When she stroked her tongue against his, he moaned. He couldn’t help it. He deepened the kiss while his hand slid from her jaw into her hair.

Sasha reached up, her arms winding around his neck. Her fingers teased the hair at his nape.

Oh, hell, Fox thought. This was not supposed to—

Sasha arched her back into the kiss, pressing her breasts firmly against his body, and Fox lost total control as he continued to chase the spark as if it were pulling her further and further into him. He dove headfirst into the abyss.

The two of them had just entered completely uncharted territory. It started from something silly. Now it was all too serious. He leaned her backwards, both of them shifting and sliding until she lay along the length of the couch, Fox over her, his hips nestled between her thighs. His lips never leaving hers.

His dick rested against her burning heat as he pressed against her, begging her to let him in. His mind sought any remaining shred of control, but it was long gone. Sasha, his best friend, tasted fucking incredible. He couldn’t help but gently rock his hips against her, and what do you know, Sasha widened her legs to give him more room.

He held himself slightly above her, so as to not crush her with his full weight. All the while she rocked her hips up, seeking more of him, and he couldn’t help himself. In the matter of a minute they had gone from friendly kissing to desperately pawing at each other and he slipped his hand under her tank top.

She’s so damn soft. I just want a taste of her belly button, and up along the bottom of her ribcage.

Sasha arched up as if inviting him. God, yes. He wanted to slide his hand up farther still, cupping her fullness in his palm. He wanted to see how well they fit together. The thought had been clawing at him for so long. The alarm bells blared, but the devil on his shoulder just shouted over the din. Go on. Cup her. You know you want to. She wants it too. She wants your hands on her. Your thumbs on her nipple. But somehow rationality prevailed, and he just barely managed to keep from sliding his palm up over her full curves.

It took his lips longer to get the memo though. When they finally did, they staged a small mutiny before he dragged them away from hers as gently as he could. He kissed along her jaw-line and had to force himself to sit up and back away…all the way over to the far side of the couch. Whatever the hell had happened here was very dangerous. Destructive.

He couldn’t live without Sasha, he needed her like he needed to breathe. He knew what he was like, so he wasn’t going to ruin this by taking it to a point of no return. He took her hand and tugged her into a sitting position.

“Now that’s how that dipshit should have been kissing you.” he said before settling back against the couch like she hadn’t just rocked his whole world upside down.

Author Bio:

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Ain't-He-Precious-FOR WEB-newWelcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one-and-only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Suddenly, my pole jerks in my hands, and I instinctively snap the tip upward into the air. I feel something catch as the pole bends in an extreme arc.

“Holy shit,” I exclaim as I sit up straighter in the boat.

“That’s a big one,” Pap says, and Trixie laughs with delight. “Now… keep the rod up and reel it in.”

I plant my feet hard on the bottom of the boat and crank my catch in. My heart is racing because I don’t know what’s on the other end of the line, but it feels massive. I reel and reel and reel, watching as the end of the line in the water comes closer to the boat. I see a flash of grayish-brown thrash at the top of the water before the fish dives back down deep, but I keep cranking that spinner.

Pap sets his pole aside, grabs a net, and leans forward, balancing himself with a hand on the edge of the boat. I give another mighty heave on the spinner’s handle, and the fish comes to the surface.

“Oh, my God,” Trixie practically shrieks with excitement as her feet come off the edge of the boat. She leans closer to me. “He caught Ol’ Mud. I was knee high to a grasshopper the last time someone managed that.”

Pap grunts in acknowledgment, scooping the net into the water under my catch. He proceeds to pull it up, and in it is the biggest, ugliest fish I’ve ever seen in my life. Not that I’ve seen many up close and personal. I mean, I went snorkeling in the Cayman’s once, but those were all brightly colored fish with long, flowing tails. This thing is indeed the color of mud, with enormous eyes that seem to be rolling and long whiskers sticking out from around its mouth.

“What the hell is that thing?” I ask in horror.

“That’s a flathead catfish,” Pap says as he hauls him in and carefully maneuvers him out of the net with practiced efficiency. He pulls the hook out of the corner of the fish’s mouth and then holds him up for me to see.

The fish is massive and thrashes in Pap’s hands, but he grips him firmly before pushing him my way. “Want to hold him?”

I recoil slightly. “Um… no, but thank you.”

Trixie snickers behind me. “Oh, God… ain’t he precious?”

Pap snorts but doesn’t give me too much shit. “Suit yourself. Take a picture, Trixie.”

I turn in my seat and watch Trixie pull her phone from her pocket. Pap scoots closer to me and holds the damn fish up over my shoulder—which, in addition to fish, smells like mud too—and chuckles, “Smile for the camera, city boy.”

Trixie holds the phone out, grinning as she takes a picture of Pap and me as he holds that slimy, nasty-looking catfish. I know my manhood took a bit of a ding with my refusal to hold it, and I can’t say I’m thrilled that Trixie thinks I’m precious, but screw it… not going to apologize for my failure to bond with that smelly thing.

To my amazement, Pap leans over the side of the boat and slides it gently into the water while murmuring, “Until we meet again, Ol’ Mud.”

“You let it go?” I ask incredulously. While the thing was scary looking as all get out, I’ve eaten catfish before and it’s delicious. I have also witnessed Catherine’s cooking firsthand, and I bet she’d do heavenly things to that fish. Besides… I thought that’s what you did in the south. You hunted shit and you ate it.

“Ol’ Mud’s been in this lake for years,” Trixie says by way of explanation. “He’s rarely been caught, but we always release him. He’s like an icon around here. The fact that you caught him, and in the morning, is amazing.”

“Really?” I ask, a small pattering of pride thumping in my chest.

“Flathead’s normally sleep during the day, usually down under lake debris,” Pap explains. “They’re easiest to catch at night, but I don’t think Ol’ Mud’s ever been caught in daylight hours, right, Trix?”

“Right, Pap,” she says and then winks at me. “We might turn you into a southern boy yet, Ry.”

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Protecting the Single Mom
By Catherine Lanigan

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out…

Launch – The Dangerous Tour

Hi, and welcome to my Prism Tour for “Protecting the Single Mom”. I’ll bet you’re wondering why I chose this tour title for a Heartwarming story in little old sweet small town Indian Lake, right? Right off the bat, let me tell you that in the real world, there are a lot of dangers, but falling in love, now that’s a real risk. How many people get married for all the wrong reasons? Just check the divorce statistics. In my opinion, love is too often discarded and other “sensible choices” enter the picture. Risking your heart for a lifetime with another person? It’s not practical. It’s nonsensical and yet, we all dream of that one true love. Our soul mate. Our adored one that we will spend all of this lifetime sharing, caring and creating, sigh, a family.

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“We are quickly drawn in to the story of a woman on the run who thought she could finally relax and enjoy life again … only to have her maniac of an ex show back up to terrorize her. A cast of great characters, many of whom we’ve gotten to know in past books in the series, makes a solid story.”

Katie’s Clean Book Collection – The Dangerous Life of a Drug Task Detective

There’s not a city, town or hamlet in the United States that are not affected by illegal drug sales, drug addiction, overdoses and drug related deaths. For all the families struggling with this horror, and mine is no exception, drug addiction of a loved one can be overwhelming, frightening and yes, dangerous.

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“I really like this story. I like the suspense in it and thought the characters were well-developed and fun to follow. . . . It was a great story and I would recommend it to other readers.”

Book Lover in Florida – Excerpt

Every protective bone in Trent’s body ached for Cate. Of all the calls, all the assignments he’d been given over the years, this one reverberated inside him like church bells on a summer morning. It didn’t take a genius to understand that his reaction was all about the woman. Not that she was defenseless, but that she’d been so strong for years. Like a stalwart angel against all odds, she’d chosen to obliterate her old life and don a new one.

Rainy Day Reviews – Review

“This was a “damsel in distress” type book where the damsel is no damsel but does need help because she is in distress. But she is trying her very best to keep things orderly and clean. This author was a new for me, but after reading this book, I really enjoyed her writing so I’ll be reading more of her books! It was suspenseful, heroic, intense, and loving. What a great mix!”

Zerina Blossom’s Books – Excerpt

Cate took a sip and raised an eyebrow. “This is delicious. Really good.”

“Thanks.” Trent wondered if he was blushing. He’d couldn’t remember blushing before, but suddenly his cheeks felt hot. And the heat wasn’t from the cocoa.

Hearts & Scribbles – The Dangerous Life of Being on the Run – Cate

For quite some time, I’ve been playing with the idea of Cate Sullivan not really being Cate Sullivan. I introduced her as the realtor in the very first book, LOVE SHADOWS, in this series. She was a friend to Luke Bosworth when his wife was alive and then she helped sell his house after her death. She was empathetic and related well to his children.

Harlie’s Books – Review

“Oh my gosh. Stop what you are doing now and buy this book. Don’t put it on the TBR pile. Pour yourself a glass of wine, or ice tea, get comfy and spend a couple of hours in complete bliss with Trent, Cate, and Danny. You will thank me later and you’re welcome. Of course, since this is my first book in the series, I need to go and get Sophie’s and Katia’s books. Yes, this book is that good that I want to read the other books. I’m a series reader. Yes, I admit it. And even though, Ms. Lanigan does a great job of letting us know about the other characters in town, I really want to read their stories, too.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

“Protecting the Single Mom is Catherine Lanigan at her best! The characters are dimensional and their stories are both heartbreaking and inspiring. Bits of humor provide a break in the suspense-driven tension, and a sweet-but-sizzling romance adds its own sort of tension to the mix. Fans of the series will enjoy visiting with familiar faces (of which Mrs. Beabots continues to be my favorite and the most intriguing), but this book can easily be read as a stand alone too.”

Mel’s Shelves – Review

“This is the seventh book in this series and only the third one I’ve read. It stands well on its own. There are characters from the other books that are mentioned and it was fun to catch up with the ones I knew. I enjoyed the pacing and the blend of romance, action, danger, and character development. This is a great read for fans of clean, contemporary romantic suspense!”

Kati’s Bookaholic Rambling Reviews – The Danger of Secrets – Trent

It was then that I saw first-hand this very human and male response to PTSD.

He’d tried everything to get help and he felt he had been helped. But after all these years, he was still haunted by the death of his buddies. The struggle these men and women must go through is monumental. It is not the “stuff” of books that I use just to make a story interesting. This is real life. And it is tragic.

underneath the covers – Excerpt

“About what?” She took a small step toward him. Could anyone be this beautiful? No makeup, her hair rumpled from the cap.

Trent felt as if he’d walked into a dream.

“The rowing. You were beautiful. I mean, er, it was beautiful to watch you…all…out there.”

She chuckled lightly—a tinkling sound carried on the wind.

Wishful Endings – The Danger of Risking Your Heart

The inherent risk of falling in love is why I adore romances, the ones I write and the one’s I gobble up by the dozens every month. I listen to sad, torchy “cowboy” songs about breakups and fear, and that final leap of faith that the lovers blindly make.

The Silver Dagger Scriptorium – The Danger of A Secret Life – Cate

Though Cate was newly pregnant when she hitchhiked into Indian Lake, she was befriended by Captain Redbeard and his wife, Julie, who own the Marina and the attached Marina Mini Mart.

When they asked her name, she didn’t give her real name, Susan Kramer, she said, “Cate Sullivan.” She had come up with it so naturally, and from that moment Cate began making her new life and for her, changing her name had been an important part.

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

She put her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. If she could stay here, kissing Trent, she didn’t have to think about nightmares and a murderous ex-husband. At this moment, she lived another lie—that she was worthy of having a real love with a man like Trent.

Singing Librarian Books – Review

“Lanigan’s characters are brought to life in a way that readers can easily relate to them. Readers will also thoroughly enjoy the delightful and enjoyable family dynamic, including fantastic kid characters. This story also has plenty of suspense and romance too. Readers will not want to miss this next instalment in this engaging series. I would recommend this novel to readers that enjoy contemporary romance stories with great family dynamics, as well as mystery.”

Nicole’s Book Musings – The Dangerous Side of Life in a Small Town

In PROTECTING THE SINGLE MOM, Trent makes reference to some of the reasons that Indian Lake has such a drug problem. These reasons are not fiction. They are fact.

One of the most notable is that residents of small towns have a tendency to believe that drug-lords would not be interested in their “little town.” After all, there aren’t that many people who would buy the drugs, right? A city offers more of that “kind” of person/addict—they think.

Hardcover Feedback – Review

“Protecting the Single Mom was an enjoyable read, one I think fans of contemporary fiction will enjoy. This story stands on its own, so you don’t have to read previous books first, but I do want to read the earlier ones someday.”

Becky on Books – Interview

Welcome, Catherine! What 5 things should readers know about you?

1. I’m a voracious reader. I wish I had more hours in the day to read even more, but I DO have to write.

2. I work full time and write full time if that’s possible—meaning 40 hours at each job give or take a few hours here and there to buy groceries.

3. I iron my sheets and pillowcases. It’s mindless work and I get a ton of ideas. You think it’s the spray starch? I use lavender scented.

4. I never, ever work anymore without my essential oils diffuser going right next to my computer.

5. My son and his family and then friends come first in my life. I’ll drop everything to help. Though I may pack my laptop on any and all trips.

They resumed their walk, holding hands as they made their way slowly down Main Street. She imagined all the women in the past who had strolled this way with their fellas. Some of their progeny were probably in Grey’s, others had left long ago when the locale was too much of a challenge. Keely had no idea what lured her back; part of her wondered if her heart knew something was finally here for her.

Jonah was here.

“I guess you can navigate by stars,” Jonah said. “They brought you home.”

“I guess so.”

They passed the Cut and Curl where Charlotte had informed Jonah he had an appointment to be waxed. For a second, it looked like he cringed when they walked by.

She was so moved that he’d made the commitment, even though she knew how he felt about it. Jonah wasn’t shy, but he was reserved. It was going against everything he believed was appropriate.

It took a strong man, a good man, to fight his better nature to do what needed to be done.

“What made you change your mind?” she asked slipping her arm through his.

“I don’t know. Listening to you today, I guess is what pushed me. You were right.” He moved his body and bumped her shoulder lightly.

“I was, huh?”

“Yeah. We have to finish what we started; it’s too important. Harry would have wanted it that way. He gave his life helping people, the least I can do is go out of my comfort zone.”

“Not a lot of people would do that,” she reminded him.

He shrugged and kept walking, the silence was companionable, comfortable. Finally, they ended up where he parked his truck. Oddly, neither of them knew what to do. She was happy when Jonah cut to the chase.

Deftly, he walked her around and gently pressed Keely’s back into the truck, protecting her from prying eyes and teenagers out for a joy ride. “So, about that kiss…”

“What about it?”

While his hands settled on her waist, hers traveled up his hard chest and wrapped around his neck. He leaned in and seemed to hesitate for a second, taking in her face, and examining her eyes for… something.

Sparks crackled between them, giving Keely a new understanding of chemistry. No doubt they had it in spades, but did they have the nerve to turn the attraction into something more?

“You’re so beautiful, Keely.”

“No, I…” What was he saying? She never saw herself as beautiful. Never. “Jonah, I don’t want to disappoint you.”

“Not possible.”

“But I’m not…”

He pressed a finger to her lips and silenced her. “You’re beautiful. And you’re mine.”

The prolonged anticipation was unbearable. Everything he did had stops and starts. The way he touched her set her blood on fire. Her skin prickled with every long, languid touch. It was palpable between them, and if she were being logical, she’d say it was because everything was so new.

But that wasn’t it at all. For her, when Jonah held her, touched her, it was like she’d found home.

This time, he started on her neck. His lips touched the skin with barely a breath, and he seared a path up to her jaw, where he teased with his teeth. Keely gasped as he held her tight, nipping and teasing, until finally claiming her mouth.

Light exploded behind her eyes, this wasn’t just chemistry between them, it was magic. As gentle as he had been this afternoon, tonight, Jonah showed no mercy. Taking her mouth fully with his, moving, tasting, allowing his tongue to sweep the inside, the warmth and invasion aroused her, making her want even more.

His fingers gathered the back of her shirt, and she gasped when she felt his skin on hers, his work-roughened hands touch the bare skin of her back. The sensations, the heat, were intense and intoxicating, and had her thinking about how it would feel to be under him, naked. Moving.

Grinding against him, she had no idea the kind of reaction it would trigger, but with a groan he thrust into her, allowing his erection to press into her belly.

“You smell like heaven. Like vanilla and honey.” Jonah nuzzled her temple, leaving a soft kiss and a question.

“I want you,” he whispered into her hair. “I want to make love to you. Let me.”

He wanted her. The cliché about a person’s heart aching in their chest obviously had some basis in truth, because Keely’s heart ached. It was full, and feeling like she’d just experienced a miracle. She burrowed into his chest, getting as close as possible.

“Take me home, Jonah.”

“Home?” Pulling back, he tucked a finger under her chin and tilted her head toward him “Did I scare you? I thought…”

“You didn’t scare me. Why would you think that?’

“You said you want to go home?”

She giggled. He sounded a little desperate, and Keely figured there was nothing better in the world. “Your home. I want to be with you.”

With a long exhale, Jonah laughed nervously. “Okay. Do you have to get your car? Tell anyone?”

Keely hadn’t stopped touching him, running her hands up and down his chest. She enjoyed watching him try to maintain control. Taking a page from his book, she stood on her toes and nipped his chin, his earlobe, his neck. “I didn’t drive, and I’ll text my friends.”

“What will you tell them?” His jaw hardened as she teased him.

She wanted to say that she was going to tell everyone she was going to have sex with him, but knew that probably wouldn’t end well. “I’m going to tell them I’m safe.”

Her words weren’t an accident. She did feel safe with him. Even though her life was going to change, in every way possible, Keely knew she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

Behind her she heard the locks on his truck click, and Jonah reached around her to open the door. Like earlier today, he lifted her up and when her butt hit the seat, she slid over so he could get in.

This was a beginning. Not just for Keely, but for both of them. And she had no idea where it was going to lead.

Excerpt:

Bridget leaned toward me and nodded in that direction. “He’s been sitting by himself
for a while. A dance with that fine man could take your mind off just about anything.”

Ophelia winked. “You should give him a try.”

“You think?” We laughed until we about peed our pants. I noticed he was watching us with a grin that spread across his sexy face. “Oh shit. I think he heard us.”

“Good. You deserve a little fun after the week you’ve had,” Bridget insisted.

“Well, I’ve seen my share of gorgeous men, but that guy is smok’n hot.” I looked heavenward and giggled.

“Oh boy, is he ever,” Bridget and Ophelia said in unison and fanned their faces.

“I’m going to give him my, ‘you can buy me a drink’ look and see what he does.”

All of a sudden Bridget rolled her eyes toward the bar. “Holy moly, he’s coming this way. That worked fast. I should try that maneuver,” Bridget whispered.

“Me too.” Ophelia got out a pen and small notepad from her purse and wrote down what I had done and then tucked her notes into her purse.

Bridget and I stared at her. Her face turned crimson.

“We always come up with great ideas over margaritas, but I can never remember what they are in the morning. From now on, I’m writing them down. Hopefully they’ll make sense in the morning.”

Sharon Kleve’s Bio:

Sharon Kleve was born and raised in Washington and currently lives on the Olympic
Peninsula with her husband.

Sharon is a multi-published author of contemporary romance. She loves romance. She
loves reading romance, living romance, and especially loves writing about
romance. She gets no greater feeling than watching her characters come alive in
each other’s arms. Most of all, she loves giving her characters the happily
ever after they deserve—with a few bumps and bruises along the way.

One of her favorite things to do is pick up a new book and sink into the story,
immersing herself in the emotions between the characters. She hopes to inspire
her readers the same way her favorite authors have inspired her.

When not writing, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her
cat and a good book, or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread or bagels.

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Fiancée by Julia Kent #RomCom #amreading #mgtab @jkentauthor @ExpressoReads

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Fiancee
Julia Kent
(Shopping for a Billionaire #6)
Publication date: February 26th 2015
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

All of our best dates end up in the emergency room….

I planned the perfect proposal. Plenty of lobster, caviar, champagne and–her favorite–tiramisu. The perfect setting. The perfect woman. The perfect everything.

Dad gave me my late mother’s engagement ring, platinum and diamonds galore. Shannon wouldn’t care if I slid a giant hard-candy ring on her finger instead of a three-carat diamond designed to impress. But my future mother-in-law, Marie, will pass out when she sets eyes on that rock, which will give us two minutes of blessed silence. That woman talks more than Kim Kardashian flashes her naked backside on the internet.

I was going to make it perfect, from the color of the tablecloth to the freshness of the roses. And it was perfect.

Until Shannon swallowed the ring.

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Fiancée gives near-billionaire Declan McCormick the chance to tell his story in this continuation of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Shopping for a Billionaire series.

EXCERPT:

Shannon has a key to my place, and as I walk in the door I see candlelight. Flickering flame is to a man what Ben & Jerry’s is to a woman.

A sign of a sure thing.

“Shannon?” I call out, following the disorganized scatter of lit candles in the living room. Shadows dance on the wall in my hallway, and I round the corner to my bedroom to find her, spread out on my bed, wearing garters, stockings, the red corset, and—

She’s asleep.

That’s okay. I can work with asleep.

I can’t work with absent.

You’d be surprised how fast a man can undress when under the complete control of testicles so full they look like a case of mumps. I’m out of my clothes in seventeen seconds or so (who’s counting?) and on the bed, my hands taking in her prone body. I’m allowed to touch. We have an unwritten rule. It goes something like this:

Touch Shannon.

It’s a simple rule.

Her skin is so soft, my fingers scraping against the rolling contour of her inner thigh, from knee to heaven. The whorls of ridges on my fingertips feel like raw sandpaper against her porcelain flesh. My breathing slows, eyes adjusting to the dim light, taking in her body. How did I ever get so lucky?

From Toilet Girl to Mrs. McCormick in eighteen months.
