Karina Bliss

Biography

New Zealander Karina Bliss has written a biography for a rock star, swapped identities with her twin, raised three orphaned children with her ex husband, worn a cow costume to a Bachelor and Spinster ball, considered marriage for the sake of a baby, and been mayor of a small town.

Oh wait, that’s her characters.

Outside her imagination, she’s always been a professional writer, first as a travel journalist and then as a romance author. Her deeply held convictions include: love conquers all; yoga pants are daywear; and what a woman really wants is a man who cleans. Unfortunately, she does not live with one, (nor indeed has raised one). Please buy her books so she can pay for one.

She has also swum with sharks. They were very small. Babies, really. But still count.

My Review

I love stories about divorced fathers trying to remain involved in their children’s lives.

Karina has written a gem here!

Joe Fraser has his hands full with his estranged father’s medical bills after a serious stroke, business dealings not panning out the way he needs them to, and a growing distance between him and his daughter. He doesn’t need advice from her nosy teacher.

When ten year old Kaitlin gets in trouble at school, Joe realizes he needs to make time in his busy schedule to go on a four day field trip in order to reconnect with his girl.

A rocky start makes him wonder if he made the right decision, not to mention a growing attraction to Kaitlin’s teacher. He manages to win over the girls he’s in charge of, but an emergency has him leaving camp early, creating misunderstandings that lead to an explosive confrontation and a kiss that gets out of hand.

Philippa Browne is drawn to the dour father of her favorite pupil, even as she sympathizes with his ex-wife. He seems to be more interested in his career than he is in his daughter and she can’t stand that.

She advises him he needs to step up before Kaitlin pays the price for his neglect. She’s surprised by the smart, funny, kind man she gets to know at camp and when she learns of the real reason for his absentminded parenting, she falls for him.

The problem is, she doesn’t want to fall in love.

I give Stay 4 lovely kisses- A sweet and spicy read!

      1. Finally some sun here (although the humidity…) I had a “weather alert” on my phone this morning — for “falling trees”. It’s rained so much that the ground is so saturated it can’t support the trees.
That’s bad. DC has been described as an urban forest. There are a lot of huge trees. The idea of them randomly falling is freaky.
Hmmm… food for another serial episode! 😉
