An author’s journey…

A poem on writing from the amazing Sue Vincent!

I’ve decided on world domination,
It’s a logical move, don’t you think?
For it has to be better than housework
Or slaving away at the sink.

‘Cause I’ve had it with laundry and cleaning,
After decades of doing the stuff,
And I’ve come to a point in the journey
Where I feel I should say, ‘That’s enough.’

I have much better use for my efforts,
I have daydreams I want to come true,
And there’s no way that’s going to happen
If I just sit and mope and feel blue.

So I sharpened my pen and my diction,
(And then chewed on its end for a while),
I should probably start writing fiction
Or perhaps ancient tales of the Nile?

Which is all very well but be honest,
There are thousands of stories out there…
So it’s back to the drawing board thinking…
‘Cause I must have…

Her Deadly Secrets by Laura Griffin #Suspense #BookReview @Laura_Griff

A young private investigator finds out the price of keeping deadly secrets when a vicious killer sets his sights on her in this pulse-pounding thriller from the USA TODAY and New York Times bestselling author of the Tracers series.

Private investigator Kira Vance spends her days navigating the intricate labyrinth of Houston’s legal world, and she knows all of its shadowy players and dark secrets.

On a seemingly normal day, she’s delivering a report to her top client when suddenly everything goes sideways and the meeting ends in a bloodbath. Twenty-four hours later, the police have no suspects but one thing is clear: a killer has Kira in his sights.

Fiercely independent, Kira doesn’t expect—or want—help from anyone, least of all an unscrupulous lawyer and his elite security team. Instead, she launches her own investigation, hoping to uncover the answers that have eluded the police. But as Kira’s hunt for clues becomes more and more perilous, she realizes that she alone may hold the key to finding a vicious murderer. And she knows she must take help wherever she can find it if she wants to stay alive…

Written with Laura Griffin’s signature “gritty, imaginative, sexy” (Cindy Gerard, New York Times bestselling author) style, Her Deadly Secrets is an electrifying and scintillating novel that packs a powerful punch.

My Review

A page-turning whodunit!

When PI Kira Vance witnesses the murder of her close friend and mentor it unleashes a fierce need to find the killer. She’s hampered by the inscrutable private security agent hired by her big-wig client to protect his team until an important case- the one her partner was working on when he died- goes to court.

Jeremy Owen is running on overdrive after a particularly tough op overseas- he’s not exactly enamored with the idea of taking on the security detail of an impulsive, distracting PI, but his loyalty to Wolfe Security is one hundred and ten percent. If Liam needs him, he’s onboard.

The danger grows as a killer with nothing to lose closes in on Kira and the information he thinks she has and Jeremy has to fight a growing attraction in order to keep her safe.

Laura Griffin writes about strong, independent women in male-dominated careers who spend their lives taking down the worst of humanity. Her books are addictive!

He’d developed a thing for a woman who rode a bike to work. And hated guns. And rescued fish.
