This book kicked my butt.

It’s weird because Adam O’Connor is one of my favorite characters in this series, but I couldn’t get him to do what I wanted- typical male 🙂

You see, DEA Agent Adam O’Connor fancied himself in love with his partner, Maggie Holt until a contrary, bossy, beautiful woman insinuated herself into his heart and refused to let go.

SAC Amanda Rhinehold knows the feelings she carries for one of her operators is inappropriate, and after giving in to a brief, torrid affair, gives up her position to move to the Springfield office as a researcher- and learns that she is pregnant.

When Amanda’s house is broken into and damaging information stolen, she returns to Texas to face her past and the man she can’t forget.

Short Excerpt

“How would you know anything about SAC Rhinehold?” Just saying her name sent his pulse skittering.

Brianne quit pouring oil over her greens to give him a contemplative look. “I may be a newbie but she’s a legend among those on the training field. After that young boy was fatally wounded in his bedroom in Kansas City, Rhinehold was instrumental in the resulting sting that netted almost a hundred arrests across the country. Violent crimes are on the rise and much of it can be tied back to the influx of illicit drugs making their way into the hands of our vulnerable. Her efforts pulled more than twenty-five pounds of Fentanyl off the streets, enough to cause up to four million lethal doses. I want to be her when I grow up.” She laughed.

She made it sound like a walk in the park, when in fact Adam knew the deep emotional toll the operation had taken on Amanda and her team. Things they saw could never be unseen. The dead and dying; someone’s child, father, mother, sister or brother. All with promising futures until the bite of addiction swept away their will to care. The country’s drug problems were reaching epidemic proportions. It felt as though they were fighting an insurmountable battle, but if not them, then who? “Just focus on the here and now, you have a long way to go before you can fill Amanda’s shoes.”

  6. Congratulations on the upcoming release, Jacquie. I love the sound of the blurb and see danger and sparks ahead for Adam and Amanda–and not necessarily in that order, LOL!

  7. This book is one I will definitely NOT want to miss! I sort of liked Adam in “Seal’s Temptation,” so I am looking forward to a book that makes me love him. 🙂 Congratulations on the new release!

  13. It’s so fun to read the blurb now that I know the characters, Jacquie. Great trailer. It’s so intense. Congrats on the new book. I’m reading this series in order, but now you’ve tempted me to read the latest again. Ha ha.
