Amanda closed her eyes and allowed the water to calm her turbulent thoughts.

For one insane moment, she contemplated opening the door and throwing herself into his arms. It had been too long since she’d felt the comfort of a man—this man’s—touch, but of course, she couldn’t. Her natural reticence raised its ugly head and stopped her from making a fool of herself.

“I’m not dressed for guests.” She raised the belt of her robe, hoping he would take the hint and go.

No such luck.

“I’ve seen you in less. Either let me in so we can have this out, or I’m going to serenade you in the hallway—your choice.”

He wouldn’t.

“Whenever I’m alone with you,

“You make me feel like I’m home again.”

He would.
