Cassie’s Wishes

A beautiful short story with a special message from Mark Bierman ❤

markbierman's avatarMar

Cassie took a deep breath and blew her wishes into the wind. It was getting dark and Mommy wanted her home for dinner, so she got up and watched them drift into the sunset. Satisfied, Cassie went home, washed up, and sat down at the table.

“So, Miss, what did you get up to today?” Mother smiled.

“I blew some wishes out into the world.”

Mother handed Cassie a plate of spaghetti, her favorite, and winked at her. “I’d ask you what those were, but I know that takes away their magic.”

Later, as Cassie laid her head against the soft pillow, listening to the crickets and the hoot of Chester, the barn owl, she prayed that her wishes would find the right people.

As Cassie, slept, a great wind picked up and blew those wishes around the globe, over miles of ocean and into every country of the world.

April Book Reviews

A wonderful review of The SEAL”s Temptation from Diana Peach! Thank you for including me in your lineup of awesome April reads, Diana!

D. Wallace Peach's avatarMyths of the Mirror

Happy May! Time for some reading!

April was a month of catch up on my to-do list, which included resuming my Jane Fonda workouts from 1985 (before some of you were born!) That means I’m not reading on the treadmill anymore, but I still made time for some great books!

April book reviews include my 4 and 5 star reads of a western romance, a military romance, an afterlife time travel fantasy, a serial fantasy, and a horror anthology.

Click on the covers for Amazon global links.

The Seal’s Temptation by Jacquie Biggar

Another awesome action/romance mash-up from Jacquie Biggar, and this one ranks toward the top of my favorites. After a disastrous mission and rescue, the seal team is taking a breather at the peaceful cattle ranch of Chief Seal Frank Stein. Maggie is among them, still suffering from the trauma of her time undercover with the Mexican cartel…

Jacquie Biggar’s VIRTUALLY GONE #bookreview #thriller

A breath-stealing review for Virtually Gone by Staci Troilo. My heart is full ❤

Staci Troilo's avatarStaci Troilo

Ciao, amici! I’ve got another review to share. This one’s by Jacquie Biggar. It’s a fast read, but it packs quite a punch.

My review:

Quick to read, long on my mind

Jacquie Biggar has done it again. Not that I’m surprised. This author not only never fails to entertain me, she does it with characters that burrow their way into my heart and take up permanent residence.

This is book six of the series, but I didn’t read all of the prior works and was able to follow the threads with no trouble, which is a testament to the author’s writing chops. She gave us just enough backstory to make sense of everyone’s history without weighing down the pacing.

The characters are compelling people. Flawed, but not too damaged. Certainly not trite or stereotypical. I felt she did an exceptionally good job making…
