My Review:
I love Virginia Kantra’s ability to bring her settings to stunning life. When reading her Dare Island books it’s easy to imagine the sand and surf, the homes and businesses, and the people who live there.
I also enjoy her characterizations, especially the male characters.
Gabe is sardonic, untrusting, and withdrawn, but he also shows a depth of caring and love that instantly tugs at my reader’s heart.
Jane has already been through a painful divorce from an abusive ex, and is in no hurry to make the same mistake again. I liked her tenacity and strength of character- she’s determined to make a good life for her son, and not count on any man to make that happen. Even if her heart says she can trust the man stirring up a rush of emotions, from tenderness, to desire, and if she dare admit it-love.
Favorite lines:
The bakery breathed around them, releasing the warm scent of vanilla, rich chocolate, and pungent coffee. The hunger stirring his gut became a throb. He wanted to take a bite of something.
