Just a Little Christmas by Janet Dailey #BookReview #HolidayRomance

Believe in second chances this Christmas . . .
Ellie Marsden couldn’t wait to shake the dust of Branding Iron, Texas, off her heels and chase after bright lights, big city, and a wealthy husband. Now she’s come home, divorced, a little disillusioned, and a whole lot pregnant. Leave it to her one-time high school sweetheart, cattle rancher Jubal McFarland, to point out that citified Ellie is as out of place in small-town Texas as her teacup poodle. So why is there something about being back—and being with Jubal—that feels surprisingly right?
Jubal’s eight-year-old daughter, Gracie, needs a mother, but he hasn’t found the perfect woman. Or maybe the problem is that he did find her, and had his heart broken when she left town. Gracie’s already falling hard for Ellie and that ball of fluff she calls a dog. And no matter how hard the rugged cowboy tries to resist, there’s no denying the appeal of first love and sweet new beginnings—especially when there’s a little Christmas magic in the air . . .

JANET DAILEY’s first book was published in 1976. Since then she has written more than 100 novels and become one of the top-selling female authors in the world, with 300 million copies of her books sold in nineteen languages in ninety-eight countries. She is known for her strong, decisive characters, her extraordinary ability to recreate a time and a place, and her unerring courage to confront important, controversial issues in her stories. My Review

Ellie Marsden left the small town of Branding Iron in search of a better life. Ten years later she’s back, divorced, pregnant, and disillusioned.

Jubal once loved Ellie with every fiber of his being. She broke his heart when she turned down his marriage proposal and left him high and dry. When she returns to town, he’s once more drawn to Ellie, but it’s not just him anymore, he has an eight year old daughter to consider and the possible loss of his ranch. He can’t afford the distraction of her sweet smile.

A mischievous little dog and a cute little girl makes this the perfect holiday read!

I love Janet Dailey. If you haven’t read her Calder series, you’re missing out on a saga better than Dynasty!

I give Just a Little Christmas 4 lovely kisses- a wonderful read!

Book Release: PASSWORD is Now Here!

Check out Staci Troilo’s #newrelease, Password! This looks good!

Staci Troilo

Password on eReaderThe weather’s been crappy and the Steelers aren’t going to the Super Bowl, but I’m still celebrating.

Password releases today!

This was the first novel I ever released with a preorder, and I’m excited to see if it made a difference. (I suspect it made a slight difference, but I probably should have had a longer lead time.)

In any case, Password is now available for download (priced at $2.99), and the print version will be coming soon. If you liked the Medici Protectorate series, you’ll want to read this novel. It’s a spinoff featuring Danny Caruso, and it’s the first in a new series (the Nightforce Security series) that I’ll be adding to with some frequency. The next installment (tentatively titled Gamble) comes out in March.

So, happy book birthday, Password. I hope you’ll all celebrate with me. (I’m thinking almond cake with cream cheese…

Your Wedding Day…and the Photographer

Guest Post - It's All About the Romance
(Source: https://www.pexels.com/photo/wedding-preparation-313707/)

In His One and Only Bride, Mitch is an injured photojournalist back in the small town where he started his career. He reluctantly embraces the role as the town photographer, covering weddings, family events and studio shots. He quickly discovers he loves weddings and soon becomes the go-to guy in town.

An important and memorable aspect to the overall wedding experience are the pictures commemorating the event. A photographer’s job is to catch the overall joy of the ceremony and the fun of the reception.  Much weight is placed on the photographer to catch all these special moments. So as a wedding professional, what are some of the tips of the trade?

In his job as a photojournalist, Mitch would use the pictures he captured to tell a story. He soon learns that at weddings, candid shots, or to be more specific, unposed pictures, are important because they don’t tell the story as much as evoke the atmosphere. How many of us have seen or remember from our own wedding just what is involved? The mother/daughter photo. The bride and her father sharing a private moment before he proudly walks his daughter down the aisle. The look on the groom’s face when he first sees his bride for the first time.

Weddings are emotional and unpredictable, but the photographer’s job is to catch all the emotions of the day. Not only are memorializing specific parts of the wedding necessary, such as the vows or the throwing of the bouquet, but the reaction from the couple and their guests add to the overall story. A picture of a grandfather dancing with his cute little granddaughter is priceless, even if it isn’t focused on the bride and groom. The memories include everyone there, and the photographer has the awesome responsibility to make the memories last.

Then there are the sweet, unexpected moments. The bride tearing up as she views the guests who have been present on her happy day. An impromptu toast with her bridesmaids. The groom laughing with his friends or a pat on the back from his father. Put these all together and the day can be relived every time the couple opens the photo album.

It’s all in the details. From a shot of the reception hall before the festivities begin, to the flower arrangements and cake, to the bride on the dance floor wearing flip flops with her beautiful satin dress. Shooting strategies, camera angles, positioning to get just the right shot, all of these are carefully considered by the photographer. And if all the planning and preparation comes off without a hitch, the bride and groom have a beautiful photo diary as they begin their lives together.
