Poppy Fields has a movie-star mother, 84 million Instagram followers, paparazzi following her every move, and a problem. Her Mexican vacation just went sideways (abducted-by-a-drug-lord sideways).
Suddenly her life resembles one of her mother’s movies, except the bullets are real, people are dying, and there’s no guarantee of a happy ending.
Surrounded by trained killers and unsure who she can trust, only one thing is certain—if Poppy doesn’t escape, this vacation will be her last.
New from USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Mulhern, the Fields’ Guide series is filled with exotic locales, humor, mystery, action, and adventure.

Biography
Julie Mulhern is the USA Today bestselling author of The Country Club Murders and the Poppy Fields Adventures.
She is a Kansas City native who grew up on a steady diet of Agatha Christie. She spends her spare time whipping up gourmet meals for her family, working out at the gym and finding new ways to keep her house spotlessly clean–and she’s got an active imagination. Truth is–she’s an expert at calling for take-out, she grumbles about walking the dog and the dust bunnies under the bed have grown into dust lions.
Action, adventure, mystery, and humor are the things Julie loves when she’s reading. She loves them even more when she’s writing!

My Review
A fun action/adventure thrill ride!
Poppy Fields has a life many would envy. Part of the uber-rich Hollywood crowd, the world is her oyster. So, why is she so dissatisfied?
It doesn’t help that her superstar mother spent Poppy’s childhood jet-setting from one movie set to another, often leaving her daughter in the hands of her father and others, until he went missing- presumed dead.
During an overnight date with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Poppy awakens to his death of a possible overdose. Heartbroken, she accepts a promotional trip to the opening of a fancy five-star hotel and villas in Cabo San Lucas, not expecting trouble to dog her steps.
Soon, she’s embroiled in a drug war between feuding Cartel members, the reappearance of her supposedly DEAD boyfriend, murder around every corner, a crazy kidnapping, marauding lions, a ferocious chihuahua, and so much more!
This book was so much fun! Poppy proves herself to be stronger than her captors expect, making this a page-turning adventure I thoroughly enjoyed. I can’t wait to read more of her adventures- an enjoyable murder/mystery {is that a thing? lol}

In a weird way, this book reminds me of Indiana Jones; same humor, action, and surprises around every corner. It’s a good one, Pete.

I read one of her Country Club series and enjoyed it, as well. Her tongue-in-cheek humor is awesome 🙂

The cover makes it look like a comedy, but with murder and mystery and kidnapping. How’s that possible? And yet your review brings it all together, Jacquie. The book sounds like a fun ride. Thanks for the review and recommendation. 🙂

Jacquie, a terrific review and your sense of fun at reading the book shines through! Slightly madcap but seems the author has pulled it all together! And yes, an enjoyable murder/mystery can definitely be a thing! Maybe there should be more in this genre?! A book I’ll keep in mind!

It almost reads like a slapstick comedy, but with depth- if that makes sense?
