Lizzie is called back from a visit with her parents when a killer takes aim on a coven of witches. After her time away, money is of the essence, so even though this is out of her wheelhouse, Lizzie and The Hat agree to investigate while working to rebuild their band, The Pythons, and get new gigs.

Cyrus Yoder takes on a young apprentice witch, Dash, and together they hunt bog-trogs- horrifying monsters who live in the bogs and create giant sinkholes- for their ambergris, a treasured ingredient in magic recipes.

A near-fatal encounter with a religious zealot puts Lizzie’s life in the hands of her new acquaintances. Will a witch’s magic save Lizzie to fight another day?

This story is filled with fun and outlandish characters from a headless barkeeper to a pet that is part lizard, part dog, and all cute. Then there is the miniature elemental being, Destiny, who may look like a pixie but is full of sass.

Fun, creative, action-packed, sentimental, the author hits all the right notes with this one- 5 well-deserved stars!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A headless barkeeper? That seems original!

    1. Okay, technically he isn’t the bartender. She is a former pro wrestler with a strange bloodline, who is capable of keeping patrons in line.

  15. There is a lot I like about this book–the clever plot, the series aspect, and how cool is it that Craig designed it for a quick read. As I get older, I have more trouble keeping track of plot points that happen over the days it takes to read a book. Not this one!
